Default Audio Driver, Windows XP 64-bit, Sony SZ6 help!!

Hi ;_; This is my first time posting on the forums. Hello ^^

My problem is this, I installed windows XP Pro SP2 64 bit (I know there's problems with Windows XP 64 bit drivers), and I got EVERYTHING running fine except for:

Audio
Function keys

The function keys I can really care less about, but the Audio has been driving me crazy!

I've read everything, I've googled for the last 3 days and still could not find the answers to my problems. I have a SZ640. I am FULLY updated for Windows XP Pro SP2 with .net Framework 2.0, I've tried the patch for the Intel Driver (I'm under the assumption that it's Sigmatel), updated my bios, but I still get this error:

Configuring IDT Audio Driver and Applications

ExitError: Error=Device Object not present, restart the system and run setup again

I've even tried installing the Realtek driver, and it even showed up in Add/Remove programs, but it did nothing in my Device Manager. When I tried installing sigmatel and restarting, the Audio device which was in the Yellow ? section of Device manager finally moved into the Sounds, but it then showed up with a yellow !, and still doesn't work.

Please help. I really want to be able to use all 4 gigs of my ram without doing the PAE thing on Vista-32, which, from my experience from reading on the forums is not a good idea to do at all.

Thanks very much for reading, and replying if you do!

Can't you find out from Sony website (for example), what audio chipset the SZ is using?

Yes i have the same problem . i have a vaio VGN-SZ791N and have already tryed all drivers you can imagine to get sound working on Xp x64.
the codec is SGMATEL HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO CODEC.
I researched for two weeks and I do believe it wont be any drivers who will work . There might be anyone who understand about drivers who can modify the original fixing it to use on xp x64.

While I cant find any solutions for my problem I dual boot with xp x64 .
I dont want to use vista, it sucks . I want my 4 gb RAM so I need 64 bits O.S.

PLs if anyone find any solution , post here pls!!!

hi, i also have a VGN-SZ61 - did you manage to get the XP audio driver? It's also the only thing I'm really missing (apart from the function keys).

Please reply as the lack of audio is driving me nuts!
