Default 6920G Cooler?

OK, so now that Bladezor, camote, and I have come to the conclusion that the 6920G's CPU cooling may not be completely up to snuff - or just paranoid - it's time to poll users to see what notebook coolers they use for their Gemstone Blues.

I'm gonna guess it'll be the Zalman NC2000 or the Cooler Master Notepal Infinity that gets mentioned the most.

Think I'm gonna try to pick one up once I'm back at univ in Sept.

i'm also looking for one, and would go for an home made one if I can find the right parts. Could someone tell me where is the graphic card?http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/35504.jpg
And in case cooling that area would be complicated, where should I center the fan?http://www.notebookreview.com/assets/35506.jpg (don't take care of the number)

Mat, the graphics card would be where that big empty space below the fan is in your image, which is obviously from the 6920.

What are the purpose of the hole(for exemple above number 86 in second picture)? Are they there to let cool air come and expluse some hot air? Should I push air in there or take it out?

Default Re: 6920G Cooler?

since the only fan in the system is pulling air in from the bottom vents and then pushing it out thru the rear exhaust; i'd guess that you will want to force air up thru the bottom vents.. as opposed to trying to pull air out thru the bottom.

I have been surfing all day with mine on my lap - it is cool to the touch. Not even warm. How soon do the heat issues manifest themselves?

Try tasking your CPU to the limit with some heavy-duty stuff like video encoding for a while, or playing intensive 3D games.
