need advice on Dell extended warranty

Just ordered my I9300.

I have opted for 2 years at home extended warranty. Though I really wanted the 3 years warranty + Complete Care, could not really afford it since I have already overshot my budget.

My question is, can I at a later stage (say after 1 year) add extended warranty to cover 3rd year.

So, can I extend the warranty incrementally,
OR,
do I have to buy the entire extended warranty upfront and cannot ADD extension to the warranty later.

It has been a while since I bought from Dell, but my understanding is you may upgrade/change an extended warranty before the standard warranty that comes with computer runs out...I am not 100% sure so you may want to see other users posts....

I believe you can extend it as long as you have some type of warranty, whether extended or standard. You can call Dell and request an extension.

What's the consensus - would it cost more to extend the warranty if purchased afterwards or would the price still be the same?

the price would be the same..i think..so instead of paying for 4 years..u could pay for 2 years when u buy your laptop..and then before your warranty expires..u could pay for another 2 years if u wanted to

oh i was under the impression that the price would be more if you extended it later on. anyway, if you're using any of the % dicounts such as 40% off then you're also getting 40% off on the warranty. so in my opinion, its better to get the max warranty that you want right now, instead of paying for it later on when there is no discount. basically i think of the 40% as whatever i get on my laptop right now (parts, etc) i'm paying only 60% of what it actualy costs. hope this helps.

that's my impression. If you extend it after you buy your laptop, I would think it would cost more. It doesn't make sense to offer it at the same price because then everyone would just do like what LuckMC suggested.

If you buy it with your laptop and you've paid for 4 years, Dell is happy cause you've paid all that money. But if you get a 2 year, then Dell realizes that you might change your mind and not extend for the other 2 years. Theoretically, they would lose money.
