Vista SP1 is not showing up for my dv2000t. Hopefully, HP will get us some updated drivers so we can get the updates needed. Maybe this is another way for Microsoft to help companies sell computers in a dying economy.

Also on the website posted earilier it wants the 4.32 or earlier.

Conexant HD Audio • For x86-based computers: Chdart.sys - version 4.32.0.0 or earlier
• For x64-based computers: Chdart64.sys - version 4.32.0.0 or earlier

The Device Manager says I have version 4.33.1.60, but I check both "chdart.sys" and "chdart64.sys" and it says version 4.15.0.0.

Microsoft says 4.32.0.0 needs to be installed, so if the Device Manager tells me 4.33.1.60, shouldn't chdart.sys have gotten updated, too?

Anyone else seeing this?
I think I may have fixed the Conexant High Definition Audio driver issue . I got the driver from windows update and i still could not see SP1. I then just read beanboy89's post and I decided to see what was going on in my C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers folder. I noticed that there were 2 Conexant files (CHDART.sys and CHDRT32.sys). CHDART.sys seems to be the same file mentioned in the causes for SP1 not showing up, but CHDRT32.sys is not mentioned anywhere. So, I looked at the versions of both files and i found something interesting. CHDART.sys had a version 4.15.0.0 (same version from HP website) and CHDRT32.sys had a version of 4.33.1.0 (version form windows update). So i backed up these 2 files and deleted CHDART.sys from the drivers folder. I then renamed CHDRT32.sys to CHDART.sys and copied the backed up CHDRT32.sys here. After that, I went to windows update and saw SP1 on my 2nd try . It seems to me that the problem is actually with the way windows update checks the driver files for SP1. By the way, my notebook is an HP Pavilion dv9230us. Also when I installed the conexant driver from windows update, I received an error code of 800705B4 which was unknown to me. I then clicked Try Again and it gave me another error that said that this driver was already installed. I checked device manager and it showed the new driver version under Conexant High Definition Audio and i checked for updates in windows update and I didn't receive this driver again in my choices so I'm guessing it installed completely.
I also noticed that in device manager CHDART.sys isn't used in Conexant High Definition Audio, but CHDRT32.sys is. I think the problem is that Windows Update checks CHDART.sys instead of CHDRT32.sys which is what the real driver is.

I got the driver from windows update that was released in March 2008. The driver version shows up as 4.33.1.60 in device manager but the CHDRT32.sys file shows up as 4.33.1.0. Maybe you have a different sound card model than me? I can't check if this works in vista 64 bit since i don't have vista 64 bit, but you can try it with the CHDRT64.sys file instead i guess.

Hmmm, only have CHDART (4.26) in my drivers folder, and there's no sign of any updated drivers on windows update.

You sure CHDART32 came from windows update?

For all of you who can't see Vista SP1 from Windows Update, just go here and download the Service Pack and install it on your own. For those of you who don't know, you can go and download every single update for Microsoft products by going to their downloads section in their website.

This is the 32-bit version:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

This is the 64-bit version:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...DisplayLang=en

For example, video encoding. If I use Nero to encode a video to DVD, my MacBook running XP (2.16GHz, 1GB of RAM) can literally do it twice as fast as the HP (2GHz C2D Santa Rosa, 2GB of RAM, Vista Home Premium). However, if I put XP on the HP, it can encode video just as fast as my Mac. This is using the "High Performance" power profile too.

Games run faster under XP. Certain games literally have twice the performance under XP, like UT2k4 and Half-Life 2.

I've gotten so tired of Vista being slow in actual application and game performance that I went ahead and reinstalled XP on it. Updates are downloading on it as I type this on my Mac.
hummmmm, what are your spec's?
mine are listed in my sig. and that's what im judging my comment by..
i installed xp 32/64 and vista 32/64. tested them all. my 3dmark06 version 110 score stayed around 3030-3060. been hard testing call of duty 4, which i can play at a decent setting at 1900 and 1600 res. haven't tried any others yet.

and my hp is faster than my macbook at rendering/encoding/loading/.... probably because my macbook only has a 64mb dedicated video card while the hp has a 512mb dedicated video card.

but just like when xp came out, every one bad mouth it as well for the first 2 years, then everyone jumped on board after the million and 1 updates/patches/fixes. it will be the same with vista... just my opinion though and not a statement of fact....

Same.

The Hermose driver didn't work for me (x32) either. Said it couldn't find the media device. Does anyone with x32 and Conexant have an appropriate driver?
