Just got my wire transfer instructions. On Monday, late, but nevertheless, on a holiday in the states. That's commendable.

Please folks, look to the old pros in this business for the truth about release dates. Those who are trying to convince people with optimistically early release dates just to get and hold on to your money for an extended period of time will only succeed with the naive.

I would consider myself naive for believing said processors are not in production right now. Especially considering I've heard quite the contrary.

Now Pcmicroworks has a habit to list the weight without the battery for some of their notebooks, and the thickness only at the front, so really don't take those numbers as gospel.

This is from Eurocom's site and at least seems more reasonable:
Looks like some conflicting information. I'm waiting until Sager releases the notebook before I take anything as fact.

I'm in full agreement, I don't like how PCMW is accepting pre-orders for the machine either, since the Montevina platform isn't even out yet and neither are some of the Nvidia video cards. Inaccurate information, inaccurate ship dates.

I'd advise anyone looking at this machine to wait until Sager releases it.

K after pestering PCMW for quite some time this is the solid response i got

We will be the first OEM worldwide to ship the Montevina platform. We do
have an earlier batch and are still on track to ship the 2nd week of June.
Thank you for your business!

Sincerely,

So unless they are pulling my leg about having those processors .. it seems like they are on schedule.

Yes, you seem to be a perfect example of the naiveté about which I am referring.

The Montevina processor/platform was "introduced" or paper "released" at Computex on June 7th. However in the US Intel has not released it, and the best information available from Intel as of this date is they will not be available to distributors until very late in June at the earliest, and it could well be July before they are actually shipping in the US.

Xephon, I do not mean to embarrass you, but please consider that we have been custom building laptops for over 9 years, and we are Intel Premier Partners. Do you consider it possible that we do have better information sources than what you may have "heard" somewhere that you do not identify?

The great thing about these written communications is that come the middle of June, and no one is shipping any models with the Montevina processor, truth will become more obvious.

Embarrass me?

You are a custom laptop builder/reseller. My dad works for Micron, who is currently engaged in a joint venture with Intel.

Who is more privy to this information? You or me?

edit: reseller*

Well, it looks like they are pulling your leg, and you are willing to let them do it.

For a tiny company like PCMW to be the first to ship...worldwide...is a totally incredulous statement. The ONLY way they could do it is with Engineering Samples (ES version) that are not supposed to be sold to the public. If you want to spend that kind of money for a gray market processor then I say go for it...the rest of us will wait for the real thing.
