Default DV2700t will not run properly run XP

I just received my dv2700t on the 30th and sold it the next day - and this is not an HP-bashing post. The build quality was very good and the LCD was beautiful - but I did not know that HP had changed the ACPI "settings" (for the lack of a better term) in the BIOS. XP SP2 w/ slipstreamed ICHM8 drivers would load - but ONLY after hitting F7 to bypass ACPI. Once loaded - there were several key problems - I could not get audio to load (and I own, or have loaded XP, on a dv2000, dv6000, dv6200, dv6500, dv9000 and dv9408) so I have some experience with the dv series. Plus - the ACPI things like shutting down with turning off power - will not work (comes up with the screen saying its safe to turn off your computer ). I can't bash HP because it was a very nice system - and they make no claims that the dv2700 will run XP. The whole lesson cost me $150 - a great SFC in the next cubicle wanted a 14" laptop to replace his 4+ year old Compaq and he quickly bought it.

Why didn't you just return it?

To get the audio to work under xp you have to install the UAA bus driver from microsoft BEFORE you install the audio software. Same goes for the Modem.

I did the same thing with my DV6000 with the xp slipstream sata drives.....been running for 9 months on xp.....zero issues.

Greetings again - I'm at COB Speicher in Iraq & it took three weeks to get it so I'm sure I would have passed the 21 (or is it 30 day) rule on a return. Talked to the buyer last night - he's thrilled with it. I don't know too much about the ACPI/BIOS business that HP has started but its a show-stopper for me for future HP purchases.

Hi,

I got some problem to find drivers for the sound as well but finally i found and it works. have a look here :
http://forum.touslesdrivers.com/repo...&v_pm=4&v_pr=4

Howover, I get as well the problem with ACPI (need to skip when you install, even if you force it in the ACPIEnable=1 value of windows install and even if you upgrade your bios).
I have another soucy. Concerning the Wifi, drivers semms do be ok but it doesn't detect network and the boutton is often on the orange color.

Maybe somebody have an idea ?

If the button is orange, it means its disabled. Thats why it wont detect any networks.

Well ok...but it's on enable position.
So, how can I enable it ?

Apparently you can force it with hp wireless assistant, but the program doesn"t start...

Noibeu - Did you get your install to work to the point where Windows can actually shut-down the laptop?? Now you're making me start to regret selling it... The display was really beautiful on mine.
