Default Alienware m15x performance test (sort of)

I found on Cnet they used the Alienware m15x (preproduction model im assuming) to help with comparing the HP HDX. Performance looks....average at best Here is the link: http://reviews.cnet.com/laptops/hp-p...ml?tag=bubbl_3
God I hope the this is the preproduction model and that the production model is better, God please!!!!

I think you're gonna have to wait and see good GTX drivers and comparisons that pit the GPU's, not the CPU's, against each other. I think for gaming the results will be more to your liking Z.

CNet is not a reliable source of information, especially as far as benchmarks are concerned. If you look at the specs for the m15x review unit, it is outclassed in most areas (CPU and hard drive especially) by the other machines.

Here's the bottom line - if two laptops have similar components and software configuration, then they are going to have similar performance. Period. The m15x is going to be one of the fastest notebooks on the market since it is available with Core 2 Duo processors, fast hard drives, lots of RAM, and of course the 8800M-GTX.

Ok I guess I should take everything I read right now about the M15x with a grain of salt. When are the reviews going to come out, im pretty sure Alienware would send out units to reviewers but oh well going to order the M15x on February the 1st if things go on as planned.

Hopefully they come out soon. Cnet has obviously had their unit for a while. Maybe Alienware wasn't letting anyone publish reviews yet until the retail units start reaching customers. If that's the case, they ought to be coming out starting this week, or in two weeks if they are waiting for the high end model to ship.

I don't know if there is any difference but the Cnet article says the HP uses a
8800 GTS not a 8800 GTX which the 15X uses. In order to make a fair comparison I would think that the two computers should have the exact same graphics card.

The only HP with a 8800M GTS would be the future HDX.

Strange test results!

Dual 8700m GT's beating a single 8800m GTX in games??? Hard to believe.
