Hello,

I have a question for LG part. Is it NU763 or UN763? From what I know NU763 is WXGA. What is the resolution for UN763?

Is Dell letting end users replace their own screens, or are they always sending out a tech?

Seconded. I have went through the forums countless times looking for that info--needs clarification!

Btw, I have a Dell Part: RP636, 1280x800 Samsung.. I'm thinking of returning it through. It looks just a little grainy to me... I would like to hear of the dell part that isn't grainy period (thats also 1280x800)

So for 1280x800

CPT is TM121
LG is NU763
Samsung is RP636

Out of the three the LG is king of the crop? With no grain or other issues?

Edit: What is the part number for the AU Optronics screen grudkin was raving about?

1. Search the forums. I personally had a grainy screen issue with my XPS M1530. I went to Search>Advanced Search and then clicked on "Search Titles Only" and tried "M1530 Grainy Screen".

2. Start with the thread that has the most replies. There is no reason to have more than one thread for the same problem, so most the time, people try to consolidate all the information they have into one thread. I had two choices reasonable choices. I went with the thread with the most replies which was "How do I fix my m1530 grainy screen?"

3. Sift through and see what you find. Laugh at the answers like "clean the sand out." Then look for things that are helpful. The 9th post down is the one that caught my eye:

4. Call Dell and ask. I called Dell, told them about my problem. They said they'd replace it and I asked for the replacement part # and description which they planned on sending. What she said didn't match either # posted above for my WSXGA+. I asked if she could read me the description of what she wanted to send, and part of the description mentioned Samsung. I told her about the problems I've heard that people with Samsungs have. I gave her the code XK309 for the LG screen that seems to work for everyone. She found it and was actually thankful for my help. She put the order through as simple as that.

5. Play the waiting game.

If this doesn't work, search again. Keep looking. These forums are filled with information. If you can't find it here, google it. Hope this helps.
I am unfortunately a new member to this poor LCD panel club. I just picked up a 1530 with the 1680 X 1050 display and also have the Samsung RW985 display. I could tell the difference immediately when compared to my older Latitude D800 monitor.

My question is... whats the best way of going about getting Dell to swap out this panel for the LG one? Do i tell them the panel has bad pixels etc and needs to be swaped or will they simply replace it if I am not happy with the quality of the display?
