Dell sent me a replacement screen for my 1530
Dell overnighted a new screen to me and it just arrived. It's to replace my blacklight bleeding and terrible viewing angles Samsung screen. I opened the box and it's an AU Optronics. I was hoping for an LG as it seems people have been pretty happy with them in their 1530. Are AU Optronics screens any good? Anyone have any experience with them in their 1530?

Re: Dell sent me a replacement screen for my 1530
I just got my M1530 yesterday and got a bad screen, not bright and very grainy/sparkly. Called up XPS tech help, told them of the problem, and they've already sent out a new screen. Thanks to these forums, I was able to give them the part # for the LG screen, and that's the one they sent out. Tech should have the part tomorrow and be here by Saturday to replace it.
Gotta love those in home service night and weekend warranties.
As to the above poster, it may be helpful if you post your part # so people can check to see if the monitor has had any issues.

Re: Dell sent me a replacement screen for my 1530
theres no way to find out until you put it in..... not every AUO screen is bad and not every LG screen is good.
the LG WXGA+ i got for my 14.1" vostro is terrible.
I don't understand why people think there are different DELL part numbers for different manufacturers. Dell doesn't do different part numbers on manufacturers.... Dell has one part number for a WXGA+ screen, you can get any brand under one part number.
for example:
The Item number for the 14.1" WXGA+ screen for the vostro is WK097. Under that part number I have gotten SEC, AUO and LG screens. Dell only views it as a 14WXGA+ screen. THAT'S IT

It amazes me how much misinformation is posted on this forum,Dell does indeed use different part#'s for the various LCD Panels.
I have 2 1530's
one with an LG Panel, one with Chunghwa Picture tubes
Part # for the CPT is TM121
Part # for the LG is NU763
The 1530 I returned had a Samsung Panel Part # RP636
Maybe you get your facts straight before you post

Re: Dell sent me a replacement screen for my 1530
Here's a quick tutorial for anyone on here having problems with their laptop.
1. Search the forums. I personally had a grainy screen issue with my XPS M1530. I went to Search>Advanced Search and then clicked on "Search Titles Only" and tried "M1530 Grainy Screen".
2. Start with the thread that has the most replies. There is no reason to have more than one thread for the same problem, so most the time, people try to consolidate all the information they have into one thread. I had two choices reasonable choices. I went with the thread with the most replies which was "How do I fix my m1530 grainy screen?"
3. Sift through and see what you find. Laugh at the answers like "clean the sand out." Then look for things that are helpful. The 9th post down is the one that caught my eye:
Quote:
WSXGA+ 1680x1050 Panels
LG Philips LPLF300 - Dell P/N: XK309 - Size: 15.4" - Experience: Not Grainy
Samsung SEC3350 - Dell P/N: RW985 - Size: 15.4" - Experience: Grainy
WSXGA/WXGA+ 1440x900 Panels
AU Optronics AUO2077 - Dell P/N: GU429 - Size: 15.4" - Experience: Grainy
Samsung SEC3157 - Dell P/N: Unknown - Size: 15.4" - Experience: Some Grain
LG Philips LPLDF00 - Dell P/N: XP059 - Size: 15.4" - Experience: Not Grainy
Samsung SEC4457 - Dell P/N: Unknown - Size: 14.1" - Experience: Grainy
WXGA 1280x800 Panels
AU Optronics (Model Unknown) - Dell P/N: UX303 - Size: 14.1" - Experience: Unknown
LG Philips LPL0000 - Dell P/N: WR362 - Size: 14.1" - Experience: Not Grainy

4. Call Dell and ask. I called Dell, told them about my problem. They said they'd replace it and I asked for the replacement part # and description which they planned on sending. What she said didn't match either # posted above for my WSXGA+. I asked if she could read me the description of what she wanted to send, and part of the description mentioned Samsung. I told her about the problems I've heard that people with Samsungs have. I gave her the code XK309 for the LG screen that seems to work for everyone. She found it and was actually thankful for my help. She put the order through as simple as that.
5. Play the waiting game.
If this doesn't work, search again. Keep looking. These forums are filled with information. If you can't find it here, google it. Hope this helps.

Re: Dell sent me a replacement screen for my 1530
Alright update. Instead of putting the replacement screen in my 1530, I put it in my 1520 so I could compare side by side. Both are WXGA+ 1280x800 displays. The original Samsung unit in the 1530 is grainy, bad backlight bleed and terrible viewing angles. The replacement unit Dell sent in an AU Optronics panel. Side by side the difference is unbelievable.
The Samsung is a piece of garbage by comparison to the AOU unit. There is ZERO grain, and the whites and blacks are amazing, in fact, the AOU panel colors are so rich and vibrant while the Samsung panel colors are dull, lifeless. Note, that I used the same refresh rate and exact color settings on both panels for comparison testing. The viewing angles are also improved.
Next? Put the original screen back into my 1520, and put the new replacement AOU screen into the 1530.
