Default Vista Startup Delay

Could you please test this;

If you have 10-15 seconds delay/hangup between the login and wireless connection, connect to AC power, open your device manager and make sure all devices (especially Ethernet, Modem, Bluetooth), make sure your power manager software wont disable any devices/drivers, restart your system and check if it still delays.

In my case (after ~20 fresh installations) I noticed that the delay started right after disabling Bluetooth PAN. Same also goes for Ethernet.

The only solution was disabling the Workstation service so I thought it should be IP/Network related.

So I tried disabling Bluetooth PAN and unchecked it in Firewall (Control Panel > Windows Firewall > Change Settings > Advanced > unchecked Bluetooth Network) and the startup/wireless connection did not delay.

So my solution is: Instead of disabling the Workstation service, disabling the firewall for disabled network devices or making sure the power managment software wont disable it if its listed under firewall..

Please let me know if this works for you...

Mine also takes a while to connect to a wired network (around 15-20 secs). For wireless it's more than 40 secs. I am talking about immediately after start up.

Did you try my suggestion.

I have a TZ17 (SSD & 4965AGN) and it no longer delays..

Make sure that none of the network devices listed in Firewall is or gets disabled by vaio power management..

This did indeed help in cutting the internet confirmation time...considering it for Vista tips thank you.

Please, if you add this to the tweaks add a BIG OBVIOUS caveat, that this tweak will render local networks inaccessible. Any files you share on a local network will be unavailable.

The tweak is not disabling the Workstation service. Instead disabling the firewall for disabled network devices or making sure the power managment software wont disable it if its listed under firewall..

I already disabled my bluetooth device with the sony utility. I haven't tried disabling the workstation service. I think it's safe for me to do so since I don't share any network drives. Can I make it "manual" start up?
