Default Updated Sager Models

News Update 8/31/2007:
Two Sager units to be updated in the near future

New NP9261:
Clevo has just informed Sager that they have finalized a major motherboard revision for the Clevo D901C. Ver.4.x will be updated to Ver. 5.1a, this board revision will officially support Intel G0-Stepping Quad Core processors.

Due to the major board level revision Sager will rename NP9260 to NP9261 and begin taking preorders for this new NP9261 on September 20th, we expect to start shipping the units before or around mid October’07.

New NP579x
As Sager has explained before, we will not be offering the new Intel X7800 / X7900 Mobile Extreme Edition processors on our NP5790 (Clevo M570RU). This is because the current hardware and case design requires 2 pre-conditions to be accepted during usage. 1. The unit must not operate in room temperature over 30c, 2. Intel Over Drive cannot be enabled.

Clevo R&D has already drafted the plans to enable the Intel Mobile Extreme Edition on their M570RU unit, which would require redesign of the bottom case shell and additional motherboard hardware revisions along possible additional fans and heat sink redesign.

As these are just early draft plans by Clevo M570RU R&D team, Sager at this time cannot provide when the unit would be ready, but the rough estimate end of Nov’07.

Nice update Justin.

Finally the official word... I was afraid of showing any info that was not official... so thanks.

This is the world first quad-core notebook officially now.

Now you can say that this is "hands-on" the world's fastest notebook for computing and gaming.... nothing close to it.

so will it be possible to use the T7800 processor ?
Also when will your prices for T7700 go down after Intel reduction on 9/2?

Thirdly, any news on whether Penryn mobiles which will be released Q1'08 can be used in 5790.

AWESOME! The NP9261 looks to be even more of a monster than the preceding NP9260...This will really take down even the most powerful non-SLI desktops out there.

QX6800, anyone?

Until there's high-end DX10 support (at the very least, SLI 8700's), the amazing power of the 9260/9261 vs. a desktop just doesn't seem to be 100% complete from a cutting-edge gaming point-of-view

(Ya I admit it...I'm a hopelessly gullible victim of the Crysis DX10 eye-candy hype )

Justin,

What about the price? Is the NP9260 model being replaced by the New NP9261, or it will stay?

Justin excellent post
