Not sure if this method works, but it seems like its worth a try.

1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click Adobe Gamma.
3. Select Step By Step Wizard, and then click Next.

then take it from there...again have not tried it but I have heard it works because it creates a monitor profile or whatnot.
Running Adobe Gamma fixed the problem for me in both CS2 and CS3. I imagine other monitor calibration software would work as well.

Where are the Adobe Gamma settings? I can't find it in Control Panel.

EDIT: I'm using Vista (x64)

Yes, CS3 doesn't have Gamma anymore.

Here's how to solve the problem:

^ I'm with XP, it doesn't show it like that

I open mine with right-click on the desktop -> Display Properties -> Settings -> Advanced -> Color Management .... where mine is set to default and no profile shows in the box. When I click add - I see like 30 different profiles ?!?!

Gamma is in CS3.

Replace 'C:\' with your respective Drive letter...

Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files\Control Panels

In there you should see the file 'Adobe Gamma.cpl'.

Copy and paste that file into 'C:\WINDOWS\system32'

Then go into your Control Panel, then Classic View, and you should see Adobe Gamma in there.
