Default Photoshop: ThinkPad Monitor Profile Defective

Hi all,

I have a new 14.1" T61p running Vista, and I have Photoshop CS3. When Photoshop starts, it tells me "The Monitor Profile 'Lenovo Thinkpad LCD Monitor' appears to be defective. Please rerun your monitor calibration software." I have options to "Ignore Profile" and "Use Anyway".

Anyone encountered this? I tried downloading and installing the latest monitor files from here:

http://www-307.ibm.com/pc/support/si...cid=MIGR-62923

(this includes TPLCD.icm, the offending monitor profile file) but I still get the error.

Is it possible that TPLCD.icm is indeed defective? I can just imagine the call to tech support, trying to convince them that the profile is defective... yeah, they'll buy that.

Yes I've gotten this error in CS2. I say use it anyways and PS seems to work but a little sluggishly.

I just got a new T61 and CS2 gave the same message. I used the ThinkVantage software and installed all the available updates to the machine. CS2 now seems to be happy--no more warning message. There were updates to the BIOS as well as the Nvidia graphics card in the package, and I suspect that one of those did the trick.

FWIW.

Hmm...I may have spoken too soon. I just installed CS3 and got the same warning message there. Went back to CS2 and the message had returned.

I use CS3 and am using the T61 LCD profile with the 169.09 drivers from laptopvideo2go and I get the error. I chose to ignore it and I dont see any slowdowns in XP.

I had this problem too, but it went away when I installed a program that made a monitor profile for me. Even after I deleted the program the problem seemed to have gone away. With that said, I am sure there is an easier way to get rid of that problem.

Not sure if this method works, but it seems like its worth a try.

1. Choose Start > Settings > Control Panel.
2. Double-click Adobe Gamma.
3. Select Step By Step Wizard, and then click Next.

then take it from there...again have not tried it but I have heard it works because it creates a monitor profile or whatnot.
