Please list laptops with TI firewire chipset.

Looking for a laptop for multitrack audio recording and mixing, I'll be using a Tascam FW-1082. Please list laptop that you know has TI firewire chipset on board, recent ones that can be bought now please.

This info is impossible to find from laptop vendor, it's like a dark secret (it's like vendors like to add firewire to the list of features, but forget to mention that it doesn't work and is unusable), but if you know a way other than to actually booting up the laptop and looking at the hardware manager, please explain how/where also.

HP Compaq business notebooks do I believe.

My nc8430 does, I would assume the other ones do as well.

a customer of mine just baught the gigabyte w551u laptop from a DAW realated Company to get it audio ready it also had the TI Chipset and tested to work with pro tools

the negatives overshadow the positive :
no asio4all support on onboard conexant audio card
really bad ground hum on audio output althought its 24 bit designed and power source has a ground prong
screen angel is limited duo to bad engeneering
only 1200x800 resolution
touchpad is horrible to work with
high price aound 1500 converted to US$

US poeple and europe have it easy try looking for a suitible DAW laptop in the middle east youll go insane .

i've read about clevo integrating the TI chipset in laptops although im not sure that it is imlemented on all models.

good luck and keep looking hard youll find something eventually , for me im still sticking it out with my old trusty t23 till i find out whether the t61 is good for audio if it is it's time for an upgrade

I've been trying to find a laptop with a TI firewire chipset for the same reason (to run a pro audio interface). This will actually be a general purpose machine for me (I already have a dedicated desktop DAW). I would love to find one with 2G of RAM and a dedicated video card capable of playing most current games.

I don't understand why there are so few available laptops with the TI chipset.

Company don't even publish spec for laptop; I'm starting to think laptop are no good for anything more than typing letters to mom and running spreadsheet for your house budget.

the lenovo z61m is TI equipped but it only comes with the yonah core duo processor line , if compatibility is more important then speed it is the one to get check out the review

also clevo laptops uses TI chipset but are nowhere near as good as the thinkpad series.
