Default Dual boot - remove Windows XP and keep Vista

Hi to everyone,

I'm new to the forum. My first question is about a dual boot machine. It's a HP Pavilion dv8320us notebook that came with Windows XP Media Center Edition 2005. I purchased Windows Vista Home Premium about 3 months ago and I love it . I did a dual boot with the two systems with no problem. Vista has been great, all my programs work perfectly (faster than XP) and i'ts very fast. Since i did the dual boot installation I haven't booted to XP, so I don't need it anymore.

What's the best way to get rid of XP and keep only Vista?

Thanks for the help...

PS: sorry for my english...

I would take all the data off of your XP partition that you still want, and then delete the partition using Vista. Then, without rebooting that computer, merge your Vista partition with the newly opened space.

Download VistaBootPro and then edit the bootloader and take out the XP entry.

Thanks for the answer. I'll try that, but anyone has tried this before?

I have done it except for the merging part. I just formatted XP partition and left it at that. Apart from VistaBootPro you can also use the Vista installation DVD to repair the boot loader. Boot from the DVD and run the setup > Install now > Repair your computer > Select the Vista installation (there should be only one in your case) > Startup repair.
