Hm, seems the 8600 GS isn't really that much faster than the current X1700 or 7700, at least according to these benchmarks. Am I missing something?

No, the 8600M GS is quite under powered compared to the GT version.

Although I'd like to see real world comparisons, these prelims make me feel better about splurging for the G1S v. the B1

Edit:

Ken, does the G1S look relatively the same as compared to the G1?

Phew, I dont feel so bad now for decided to go with the G1s.

I'm not really a fan of the lights and 'gamer' stuff though.
Oh well, I can deal with it.

i can feel you on that. i'm not a big fan of the gamer look too. but it's aimed for gamers and i guess thats me
