Driver inf file and installation files based on catalys 7.2 but dll files like 3d drivers based on 8.293 lenovo except opengl drivers they are based on 8.32 coming with offical firegl driver. I patched ati2mtag.sys with rivaturner and suitable script file then create these mixed drivers.

Does this mess up the system in anyway?

I tried to message the poster asking about it, but no reply. It looks like a very intriguing upgrade, but it would be nice to get some more info...

i did some googleing and found out that is is very feasible but it is overclocking the GPU which means shortening the life.
I want to know if this driver still would overclock it

Running the 'professional' drivers does not necessarily or automatically mean that you have to overclock; the two are completely independent. You can choose to do one, the other or both.

People have been using 'pro' drivers on equivalent consumer based video cards (either through hardware or software workarounds) for several years now, so none of this is new. But thanks for the interesting benchmarks, seagleye.

this does not mess up the system guys. if the patch is made correctly with the correct patch and driver there is no problem. This is safe there is no overclocking or make the card over voltage or something else. Only this patch open the professional capabilites that is hidden in the driver that firegl cards have. Usually there is equavalent of the ati radeon cards that is named ati firegl card both desktop gpu and mobile one.
For example ati mobility x1600 based on m56 and ati mobility firegl 5200 based on m56gl. what we do here is forcing the x1600 work as m56gl.

especially i did not try 3dmark testing because this patch has not effect on direc3d games and application. Moreover it is said that might be performance reduce but not marked. On the other hand opengl boosts especially i am maya user and it helps me alot
However patch only works with 8.292 driver newer drivers have protection and not hacked yet but you can use newer opengl driver dll by copying through correct directory.
There is a good thread here and working guys on it.

seagle says he didn't test with 3DMark...but did anyone else? It'd be really nice to see what sort of effect it has there. If it's small enough, it could definitely be worth switching over and getting the bonus performance at those applications without a loss to gaming performance
