WinXP Sata Drivers for Toshiba U305

I successfully slip streamed it into my xp sp2 disk with nlite. just click the add drivers button, and select all of the 'mobile' lines. do NOT do the PNP option.

I am attempting the slipstreaming and the downgrading too (for U305 S7467). I downloaded this pack from Toshiba. I am now in the middle of the slipstream process and there seem to be 2 *.inf files which were extracted from the zip file: iaahci.inf and iastor.inf. Both are in the same folder. If I select all the mobile lines from one of the .inf files, and then try to proceed to the next nlite gives me this message:

This driver folder is already queued for integration. no need to select more than one INF file from the same folder.

Pardon me if this is a dumb question but what is puzzling me is, does this mean that:
a) both the *.inf files contain the same drivers or
b) once a *inf is selected nlite displays the contents of all the *.infs in the same folder.

It would be great if someone could clarify this. Thanks.

I have the Toshiba U305 S7446 and did find all the drivers needed to switch from vista to XP Pro. Go here:

It seem that these tools are the generic version with all Toshiba machines but I was looking for the camera driver. It worked along with other drivers that seemed more like toys than anything else.

This link was actually found through a search for a Toshiba U305 but another model. So far, everything works.

How I did it:
Go to the above marked site and download all the XP drivers, open and burn them onto a CD within their respected directories.
Trash vista and install a clean version of XP Pro
Update to SP2
Install all the drivers to fit the Toshiba U305
Update XP Pro via microsoft

Apparently, clicking and selecting the contents of one *.inf file is enough because nlite then includes and installs the contents of the other .inf files in the folder as well.

However, now I have another question. The SATA drivers linked on the page you linked (and I linked above) is nearly 20 MB whereas the SATA drivers linked before are just around 182 KB. Apparently, they work too. What then is causing this huge increase in size of the SATA drivers. Here's how they are displayed in the descriptions:

Decided to go with the SATA drivers from the Toshiba US website. Did you guys come across a Toshiba SYS partition when you were doing a clean install of Win XP on the U305? What is this Toshiba SYS partition and is it safe to delete this partition?

Thanks to everyone who posted in this thread. I completed the complete switch to Windows XP in my Toshiba U305 - S7467 today. Since I was switching to non-toshiba advised stuff, I went the whole nine yards and installed the latest drivers wherever available instead of the Toshiba outdated unsupported crap on their page. To reaffirm and add to the posts in this thread, here are the steps:

1. Download SATA driver from here: http://askiris.toshiba.com/ToshibaSu...200%2021786773

2. Download Win XP Optimization for Dual Core Processors: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...displaylang=en and the audio hotfix from here: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/forums/...howtopic=47079

3. Create Slipstreamed optimized Win XP SP 2 with all hotfixes CD with Nlite: http://www.nliteos.com/ and Windows Update Downloader: http://wud.jcarle.com/

4. Change Boot routine of U305 - so it boots via the CD/DVD drive.

5. Ignore the TOSHIBA SYS partition - I have no idea what this is - if someone can answer this, it would be great. NTFS Format the other partition (189281 MB) and install the modified SlipStreamed Win XP on it.

6. Install Sequence should follow this guideline:

(Information for the next few steps: The chipset in the U305-S7467 is the Intel 965 Express chipset with the integrated GM965 graphics chip)

7. Install Intel Matrix Storage Manager from here: http://support.intel.com/support/chi.../CS-025753.htm

8. Install .NET framework from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/d...D-AAB15C5E04F5

9. Install Java 2 Runtime Environment from here: http://support.toshiba.ca/support/do...=PSU30C-NS608C

10. Install the Intel chipset driver installation utility followed by the display driver from here: http://support.intel.com/support/chi.../CS-025753.htm

11. Install the latest sound drivers (WHICH WORK!!) from here: http://www.realtek.com.tw/downloads/...&GetDown=false

12. Install the wireless driver from Intel: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/filt...4&submit=Go%21

NO NEED FOR the wireless software client. Win XP handles the wireless configs pretty well without need for extra junk.

13. To reduce monitor brightness, adjust other power consumption settings and increase battery life (which stands at an awesome 5.5 hours now!) Install Powerstrip from here: http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=169

14. You should have an inbuilt USB camera support from Win XP - so I don't think the Chicony thing is needed. However, if you really want it you could download it from here: http://support.toshiba.ca/support/do...=PSU30C-NS608C
I didn't install it. My videocam needs are met by Win XP.

15. Take out all useless stuff - those mediocre "games" that came with XP, unecessary bloat eg. support for a bazillion languages.. yeah right, like you are ever going to speak in Armenian (pardon me, my Armenian friends, you could substitute this with English ) If you are an efficient computer user, you don't need those "media keys" or the rather redundant function key stuff. Use the volume control dial on the left of the laptop and use powerstrip for the rest

Boot time is again an awesome 14 seconds. This system totally rocks!

I tryed last year with the 945GB on Intel ICH7 and I had no luck with getting XP x64 to direct to an external USB floppy. I understood this was just the way it was desighned.

Can somebody confirm that "YES" they got XP (any family) to detect and be directed to USB floppy? What about the older optional exteranl floppy that connected to docking port or DVD port. i still have mine form my older Toshiba.

If I must use the elite, is it 64 bit compatable, or will I need to creat in 32bit and burn to disc? Where at and how do I add the hotfixes I know I will always use? Is there a list of the standalone hotfixes that are not in current SP2 such as the no video on resume from S3 or HD audio patcher for XP x64 on Intel HD, or the faile to resume from S4 (XP 32bit) with more then 2GB RAM? Can the Toshiba drivers for function keys, LAN and, other Toshiba features be added as well? How do I get it to use IE7 instead of IE6 or Mdia player 11 insted of 10? Or atleast not install them so I can add myself? I want a compact install so I can use more space for high end media apps like Adobe Premiere Pro and rest of the Creative CS3 suite.

Hmm... I didn't go the USB floppy way. I went the Slipstream nlite CD compilation way. Perhaps someone with the USB floppy downgrade success could come along and post?

I added everything all - including the function keys, LAN etc. for my 32 bit version. They may be valid for 64 bit too: http://support.toshiba.ca/support/Do...n_byModel.asp# Check with a small phone call to Toshiba.

You can cut down and make your windows really really optimized and compact by using these options of nlite: http://www.nliteos.com/guide/pictures/a6.jpg (Options: Remove Components, Tweaks)

Gives you an option of NOT installing Media Player 11 etc. If you use an older version of WinXP installation for the nlite slipstreaming process, don't include the IE-7 hotfix/upgrade under nlite integration.

Just wanted to add my thanks to you guys as well. I also joined this forum specifically to says thanks for the invaluable information you have provided that made the switch from Vista to XP on my Toshiba U305-S7448 easy and painless.

When I bought this computer I was leary of Vista and after 4 months of dealing with the annoyances of Vista I am very, very happy to have XP running on my computer.
