taking files off of raid0 hdd's?
My laptop died and is beyond repair, and there is no way to take the data from the hard drives. I have a few very important files on the hard drives and they are in a raid0 array. How would i get the files from them to another computer?

Re: taking files off of raid0 hdd's?
You need to find a compatible RAID controller and plug the drives in. Did you have the Intel RAID controller? You should be able to plug those drives into any laptop or desktop with an Intel RAID chipset and read the array.
So you did not have a backup???

Re: taking files off of raid0 hdd's?
yeah, the raid array was built into my hard drive bay, or on the motherboard i assume. i MIGHT be able to borrow a friend's laptop, if that doesn't work out, where would i be able to find raid controller? Are there any hard drive enclosures that have a raid controller built in?

What laptop did you have? I assume the RAID controller was an Intel RAID controller, so you'll need to find another computer with an Intel RAID controller.
The controller was built into the motherboard, and now you need to find another computer that has the compatible controller on the motherboard. Assuming you have the Intel RAID chipset (which model computer do you have?!?) then any computer with an Intel RAID chipset should be able to read the array.
Again, if it is an Intel RAID controller borne array...no enclosure is going to work with it.

The computer I'm speaking of is the one in my signature. Assuming that I DO find a computer with an intel raid controller, do i just stick my two hard drives into it and the computer boots up as if it were my old, broken one? From there I assume i can just stick all my necessary files onto a disk or usb storage and then wipe em?
