I guess you can't make a regular Win 7 DVD into a USB bootable form? I'm sure someone, somewhere will figure it out sooner or later though

Of course you can. It's done the same way as Vista too. This is for regular consumers who aren't technically inclined. You pay for the convenience.

Re: USB Bootable Windows 7 For Netbooks Available
It is not a terribly bad idea...I mean, considering the huge amounts of thin and light laptops that are ditching the OD Bay, and consumers (regular ones) are not that tech savvy, this is a good way to go. You pay only the OS and that is all, and you dont have to get the eOD (another expense) just to install it.
For example if I bought a netbook, and it is the first laptop I have ever had, and I want to upgrade, I can do it via USB, instead of buying the eOD and then installing (too many hassles), so in from a point of view of convenience+affordability vs buying the eOD+the OS and installing it is better.

Re: USB Bootable Windows 7 For Netbooks Available
I hope in the near future, CDs/DVDs are replaced by disposable, smaller flash form factor media.
