Default Toshiba Updates Notebook Line for Windows 7

Toshiba Updates Notebook Line for Windows 7

Toshiba today announced a plethora of updates for its Satellite line of consumer notebooks for Windows 7. Some models have received touchscreen functionality, and all but the touchscreen models will be available on 22 October.

The 13.3-inch U500 series will start at $689.99 and will be available in four colors: red, white, pink, and brown. The touch-enabled U505-S2980-T will be available on 1 November for $1,049.99.

The 14-inch M500 series gets new color options: red, pink, white, and the original black. The M505-S4990-T touchscreen model will be available for $949.99 on 1 November. Both the U500 and M500 touchscreen models will come with Toshiba LifeSpace touch-ready software. It features two applications, Bulletin Board and ReelTime.

Bulletin Board is a calendar/organizer and ReelTime is a search program that displays visual results. For more information on the U500 and M500 touchscreen models and the included software, please see the full Toshiba press release here.

Toshiba has also given the rest of its lineup minor upgrades. The A500 series is more or less the same with a 16-inch display, optional Blu-ray drive, Intel or AMD processors, and discrete or integrated graphics. The A500 starts at $589.99.

The large 18.4-inch P500 series has similar features as the A500 plus an optional LED backlit keyboard. Pricing starts at $799.99.

The value-centric L500 series is available with 14-, 15.6-, 16-, and 17.3-inch displays and Intel and AMD processors. Pricing starts at $504.99 - $579.99.

Toshiba's top-of-the-line 18.4-inch Qosmio X500 multimedia notebook will be available in two configurations. The X505-Q830 includes a 1680x845 resolution, 320GB 7200RPM hard drive, 4GB of RAM, and a price tag of $1,449.99. The higher-spec Q850 version features a full 1920x1080 screen resolution, a 64GB SSD and 320GB 7200RPM hard drive, 6GB of RAM, and a price tag of $1,899.99.

Last but not least, Toshiba updated its mini NB200 series netbook. It remains basically the same with a 10-inch display, nine hour battery life, and five color options: brown, white, pink, blue, and black. It will be available with Windows 7 Starter edition and start at $399.99.

Toshiba and HP have a knack for announcing a boatload of products all at once. Those giant press releases are killer.
