Default Seagate 1TB 2.5" Hard Drive Coming Soon

Seagate 1TB 2.5" Hard Drive Coming Soon

A Fudzilla report claims Seagate is about to launch a 2.5-inch hard drive with a 1TB capacity. The drive will surface in the form of the Seagate Portable and the Seagate FreeAgent Go. The drive has a 5400RPM speed and an 8MB cache. It is not clear whether the drive is 9.5mm (which would allow it to fit into notebooks) or when Seagate plans to ship the drives.

Well i'm usually a western digital man, but i will more than likely buy a half dozen drives from who ever is able to get the first 9.5mm drive to the market (assuming they dont crash and burn )

Yeah, I hear you - I personally don't buy anything but Western Digital.

It's not like I need more space right now. Last month I dropped a WD5000BEVT into my laptop and I love it.

I could use a bigger HD, 160GB does not really cut it.

I'm running out of space. I may get this one if it fits and another 1TB external.

I'm pretty sure this isn't a 2 platter, 9,5mm drive. It sounds like they are taking their 640GB drive and adding one more of those platters. I guess they could make it in 9,5mm, but that would be a rough drive like the Hitachi one I think it was that was first to market with 500GB.

It's size over speed then.

Seems that way, but thats fine by me. I have all the speed i can handle with the SSD i need more storage space. and a 1TB drive in my spare bay gives ALOT more breathing room than my 500GB drive that already has 417GB used
