Lenovo Intros IdeaPad U450p
Lenovo Intros IdeaPad U450p Lenovo today introduced its latest consumer notebook, the IdeaPad U450p. The U450p is based on Intel's Consumer Ultra Low Voltage (CULV) platform, commonly referred as an 'ultra thin' notebook. The U450p features an anti-glare 14-inch display (1366x768), integrated Intel GMA X4500 graphics, Windows Vista, and a six-cell battery. The base model starts at $799 with a Pentium SU2700 (1.3GHz) processor, 3GB of RAM, and a 250GB hard drive, while the $899 version bumps the specifications to a faster Core 2 Solo SU3500 (1.4GHz) processor, 4GB of RAM, and a 320GB hard drive. Like other ultra thin notebooks, the U450p has an external optical drive. Lenovo Product Page

Re: Lenovo Intros IdeaPad U450p
The price is really garbage for those specs compared to the acer timeline. I suppose the display might be better for some people.

Well...if you consider Acer's reputation versus Lenovo's and the general build qualities that tend to accompany the products, perhaps some will consider this an okay deal; though I suppose I can't say anything about the Timeline series

I used to be suspect of Acer too, but their new Timeline's really are a great value. I think the build quality of mine is fine.

Re: Lenovo Intros IdeaPad U450p
The base model's price difference is $799 vs $549 (Lenovo has 1G less ram and less HD space)
that is $250, you can get top of the line Timeline with $799 (sort of)

Re: Lenovo Intros IdeaPad U450p
So far, Acer is the only one (to my knowledge) offering a CULV-notebook with a dual-core processor- the Timeline 3810T with 1.4GHz Intel C2D SU9400. For the same price as the Lenoov U450p and several other competitors, the 3810T has "real" notebook performance....
It will be interesting to see how single-core CULV processors (like the SU2700 and SU3500) perform running Windows 7 instead of Vista....

You know, I couldn't quite put my finger on it until you said it, but you're right! The lid design/pattern has a Burberry plaid 'feel' to it...
Just don't let Lenovo hear that or they'll try to develop a co-branding scheme with Burberry and double the price!!!
