Default Samsung N510 Nvidia ION Netbook Coming Next Month

Samsung N510 Nvidia ION Netbook Coming Next Month

Samsung says it is planning to ship its N510 Nvidia ION-powered netbook to the United States in September. It has an 11.1-inch display with a 1366x768 resolution, an Intel Atom processor, and unlike traditional netbooks, Nvidia GeForce 9400M graphics and HDMI out. Thanks to the GeForce graphics card, it can handle high-definition content with ease. Unfortunately the Samsung N510 will not come cheap; its launch MSRP is $599.

Which means $100 more than I would pay. I liked my NC10 a lot... until the paint started to wear out after a couple months (left button touchpad paint is pretty much gone now).

Nice netbook. P.S. it's 11.6 inch instead of 11.1 inch.

If the price point was $499, it would be worth buying. Too bad.

Samsung netbooks have a great design and solid quality, but $600 kind of defies the definition of a netbook - an inexpensive Internet surfing device.

I agree, I think netbooks should always be $499 or less.

It's nice, but I wouldn't even spend $499 on a Netbook..
Between $289..$399 max. Netbooks are not UltraPortables.

Awesome, think I'd get this next month.

One thing I'm worried about,is its speed. My bro's gf bought a Lenovo S10-2 and the thing was a slugfest. 1GB RAM should be enough for XP correct? Think again, the thing was so slow I wanted to stick a bullet in my head. Also, programs would crash unless on AC-power. Kinda beats the point of a netbook doesn't it?

Hope the Samsung is nothing like the terrible Lenovo.

With the affordability of budget laptops these days, I personally wouldn't pay more than $299 for a netbook, especially since specs-wise, they are nearly identical.

At least to me, I think the three most important factors of a netbook are 1.- maximized portability, 2.- maximized battery life, and 3.- minimized cost. Although this netbook looks really nice, it probably won't get fantastic battery life, and costs about a $100 too much.

@cy007: At least processor-wise, the two will be pretty much identical. The N510 will have a big advantage in the playback of HD content though. Probably the largest performance boost that you could give a netbook is by adding a nice SSD, but I guess that sort of defeats the affordability aspect.
