Default Sony's ATI drivers

My recently new purchased FW 490 JFT comes with ATI's Mobility 4650 1GB GPU. I installed all the "latest" drivers from Sony however the ATI drivers they offer are version 8.5. The latest drivers out on ATI's website are now 9.7

Will Sony ever update their drivers? How can I get this card updated to the newest drivers? I already tried Mobility Modder and they don't support 4650 series...

Anyone in my shoes too?

Stay with the Sony driver. Eventually they will update it, IF it is deemed necessary to keep the notebook running correctly.

cheers ...

I know on Windows7, the latest driver from ATI's website works fine. but for vista I think you have to stay with sonys drivers.

Use at your own risk. I use them on my ancient macbook pro and they work great. It's not listed for the new 4650, but it might work. Again though, use at our own risk.

http://www.driverheaven.net/modtool.php doesn't support 4650 at the moment as far as I know.

I would expect Sony to update the driver when they ship you the Windows 7 disc and additional disc with updated drivers, based on your configuration/model.

the modtool in it's standard form does not support the 4000 series, however in the forums there's information on how to modify the tool to add your own.

If you're running Windows 7, there appears to be support for the 2000 and up cards on the new ATi 9.7 drivers.
