Yes, it appears you're right, the Mobility Modder doesn't currently have the support for the 4xxx series cards, which is why the 9.5 ones you've tried didn't work, and neither will mob modding the 9.6 ones. I'm checking the Driverheaven forums now, but I think Coolmine's got it right, you'll have to use the Windows 7 ones from ATI (they distribute the drivers for Windows 7), but that means you'll have to install Windows 7 Release Canditate (beta if you will) version.

-EDIT- They say they're currently working on adding support for 4xxx

Basically you have three options.

1) Install Windows 7 and install the official ATI drivers. Release date for Win7 is 22 October if im not mistaken, so you have some time before you need to format. Up to you.

2) You can try experiment with the .inf file since some people said they got the cards working with some modifications in the .inf. If you got the time and the knowledge that is ( here )

3) Wait patiently for Windows 7

What drivers are you using at the moment ?

Double click the ATI in the tray and check for the info

You need to use MobilityModder in order to install the 9.11 and 9.12

Okay, here's what you need to do:

1. Search Google for a program called MobilityModder. Should be the first option. Download and install it.

2. Download whatever driver you want-I'd recommend 9.12. Press Install-BUT, let it extract to a folder wherever you want it (the first step)-remember this folder, usually C:/ATi/Support/(jumble of letters here)

3. Close the installation window when it comes up after the files are extracted.

4. Open Mobility Modder and direct it to the folder that the driver extracted it to. Press 'Modify'. Wait until it finishes.

5. Go to the folder, run the .exe, and install the driver as normal.

This is necessary because ATi drivers don't have compatibility for mobile graphics cards as standard. Mobility Modder gives them this compatibility.
