Default My iPhone just took a crap. A sign from the Apple Gods?

One of the rows on my iPhone 8GB no longer responds to touch. It's a dead spot. It can be no coincidence that this happened a day before the new iPhone is (supposedly) released....

Only in an Apple Forum...

...would someone praise a company because their product broke and it gives them a chance to get a new model.

I'm not praising anyone. I'm ticked off!

That reminds me of when I owned an Alienware. I should have praised AW for the fact that my Area 51m 5500 had such a problem with heat dissipation that the GPU idled at 120 C. Causing transistors on the motherboard to pop out of their sockets, finally melting the plastic housing frame the CPU sat in.

I should have recognized that as a sign that it was time to get their new SLi laptop right then and there instead of moving onto a Thinkpad for the next few years.

/sarcasm off

It doesn't respond at all, or it responds now and then? I have heard of issues like that, except on iPod Touch...

And yes, 3G iPhone tomorrow! Almost confirmed!

It's literally a dead spot on the screen. Sucks so much! I googled "iPhone dead spot" and found others with the same issue. Just.... gah!

Can't you get a free replacement from the Apple Store?

I hope so. I'd unlocked mine last September, though, so I'll probably need to do a restore... The dead spot is in between numbers on the number pad (the only thing accessible from an un-activated phone), so it'll be a little awkward to demonstrate it, but I'll give it a go... Just wish the nearest Apple store wasn't so far away (1 hour 20 each way... ).

Just... grrr.

Put it under your pillow, maybe it'll turn into an iPhone 2. Or maybe mine will die as well, not that I’d notice as I can’t hear s**t using it as a phone anyway. I can see Steve now with that smug grin on his face, head squeezing out the top of his only polo neck like he got stuck while emerging from a test tube telling the assembled crowd of partially lobotomized vegetables at WDDC that it’s not built-in obsolescence folks, 'its a feature', its the iBreak, lovingly and minimalistically designed in Suckertino California, available in Rip-off and Rip-off-Air flavours.

Rant over. And yes I will be checking out the WDDC tomorrow, like a lobotomized vegetable.

You could always run up to Jobs and repeatedily tap him on the forehead until it goes numb saying 'can ya feel that Steve, no , well neither can my damned iPhone'
