Sorry, but what's EDID? And power strip? You mean like a UPC?
Btw, I did try this on 3 different 22 inch monitors: Mine(Viewsonic), MAG, and an HP. All with the same result.

Then it's clearly not the monitor, but
1. The GPU drivers.
or
2. The GPU itself.
or
3. The cable, somehow -- but that's very unlikely.

well, cant be the drivers. I pretty much tried all verstions of catalist from 7.11 all the way back to 7.04, i dont see any point going beyond that
If its GPU, itself, then I am hoping that asus could give me an replacement.
Still waiting for their answer

Powerstrip is a program.
http://www.entechtaiwan.com/util/ps.shtm

Download the shareware version and see if it lets you get 1680x1050.

Cool, thanx, I will give it a try.
Now i gotta a question, all these programs are based on windows correct?
If thats the case, can i assume that all of them are getting their system info from windows? Or are they sacanning the system on their own?
What i mean is, if i can't see the resolution under Display Options, why would i be able to see it using a different program?
I am asking this, cuz both ati tools, and catalyst diplay program didn't show me anything different than what windows already shown me

Ok, someone from driver heaven has the same problem, and somebody posted this:

Anyone know what lines to edit, or if there is another way of getting this up and running at 1680x1050?

Any ideas?

I know how to do it for an nVidia driver, but my understanding was you couldn't edit in custom resolutions in ATI's newer drivers. That's why I suggested seeing if you could use Powerstrip to get Vista to recognize that 1680x1050 is the monitor's default resolution, since adding it as a custom resolution is difficult and/or impossible.

Thanx odin, i will try the power strip as soon as get home tonight
I just hope that asus consiter this to be a "problem" so they can fix it instead of just leaving it to me.

I don't think it's Asus' problem, really. It seems like an incompatibility with your GPU drivers and the monitor, though since it happens on all monitors, I'm unsure of what to think. I would try a dual-link cable, and also try powerstip, and if neither of those work, you may just have to use a digital 1440x900 or an analog 1680x1050.

Ok, just a quick update.
Got an email back from asus tech suport.
Apparently, this is a problem from the driver, and asus is already doing testing on the new driver with fix for this.
I was told that they will be releasing it soon,
So i will keep my fingers crossed and post the result here as soon as get any
