There is press release in the asus Portuguese website... You can try using google translate. Check the bottom of the page. The translation is crap but you can see the prices for the two versions.

What i got from google tranlation:
"the PC Eee will have to arrive at the market with an extremely competitive price and that it will go up to around 299€ for the units of 7” and 499€ for the versions of 10”."

That is a important part, does it mean the max out price at 299 for 7" and 499euros for the 10 or does it mean it starts at 299euros and such. Need someone that reads proper portuguese.

I'm Portuguese. In fact the "up to" expression in Portuguese is not up to, its straight forward translation would be : approximately, around, more or less. The "up to" expression leaves the idea that could be far less. The portuguese expression narrows the range. Normally, when companies use this expression it means that the price quoted will probably be the final price. I wouldn't count for the price to be less than €250 and €450 for the 7'' and 10'' models, respectively.

Could be, as there is no information about to which models the prices refer to. However, I believe this press release is just a translation from the one posted on the Asus global site. In the original press release the prices mentioned were $199 and $299, which we assume refer to the basic models. In this press release, the prices were updated , I assume they are refering to the same models.

Well, it seems that in Spain the price will be similar to the one in Portugal (Asus ES press release and translation). I can't find any news regarding the eee on the FR and DE sites. The UK site has the same press release as the US site, with prices stated in $.

well you'll find that the early version of linux wont be tweaked to provide the best possible battery life. I know that there are a fair few things you can do to reduce the battery life, like reducing the number of times an application writes to the HDD, or the power management profile used on the WiFi card. After applying all the tweaks (which they hopefully do) then they could get that battery life right up there. Not to mention under clocking the CPU... that would yield major gains.
