Default Post your custom built desktop specs! :)

Hey, just wanted people to post their custom built desktop specs. I am considering building a desktop in the near future and would like to see some of the brands and features that people find important. Plus it will be fun!

CPU: AMD Athlon 2600+
MotherBoard: Biostar M7VIT Pro
Memory: 512MB PC2700
Hard Drive: Maxtor 160GB
Graphics: GeForce 5200 128MB
DVD+RW: BenQ DW1620
DVD-ROM: LiteOn 166T
Floppy: Sony
Sound: Turtle Beach Riviera
Speakers: Altec Lansing ATP3 2.1
Monitor: Hyundai 70s
Case: Antec Overature II
Card Reader: Scan Disc 6-in-1 Card Reader
Keyboard/Mouse: Logitech Wireless Dekstop

I am sad to say not top of the line anymore like when I built it. I am only hanging on to it for when I get an HDTV so I can hook it up to that so I can hack my XBOX360 when that becomes possible. I use my laptop much more nowadays. I really only use it for burning discs, office, internet and light Photoshop. It works fine for that so there is no need to invest more money it. I would rather invest in a new notebook.

No worries, my old desktop is a P3 that runs at clock speeds lower than my XBOX, lol. It has two sticks of memory in it, one is 64 MB and the other is 32 MB. Not to mention a 10 GB hard drive. Thanks for the post though!

I guess I will copy Zaz's format...

CPU: AMD 64 3200+ @ 2.4ghz
MotherBoard: Gigabyte GA-K8NF-9
Memory: 2GB's DDR400. 4x512MB's.
Hard Drive: Western Digital 160GB (Soon to be 2x160GB in RAID 0)
Graphics: EVGA Geforce 6800 256MB
Optical drive: DVD+/- DL NEC
Optical drive: Asus DVD/CD-ROM
Speakers: Altec Lansing 5.1 system. (don't know the model #)
Monitor: Viewsonic VX912 19" 8ms
Case: Random black case with temperature gage
Keyboard and mouse: Logitech wired.
PSU: Generic 350watt (soon to be a 480watt Demon power supply)

It suits me quite well now. Most likely I will upgrade in about a year. To an X2 or something. But then I would have to buy a new motherboard and CPU. I will also upgrade the graphics card. Perhaps add another 6800 and SLI them.

Cool you have lighting also. I have 2, 8cm Blue LED fans. They look sweet. My 480watt Demon power supply is coming tomorrow or the next day along with my 160GB WD HD. The PSU has one 12cm Blue LED fan and one 8cm Blue LED fan. It's going to look sweet! I can't wait

You are going to buy a processor of 1200 dollars? Thats incredible, you can buy a good notebook for that money! This is just my opinion tough.

I would go for the Conroe, its faster and much cheaper then the AMD AM2's. And I would wait for the new series of 8800 of nVidia, I dont know when those come tough

I have always said: it is not the best hardware you buy that is important, but the hardware/price ratio.

To me its the best hardware and I plan on overclocking a bit to. Not only does the CPU cost 1k so does the monitor I plan to buy and my graphics setup those three things total 3k together.
