Now after a few moments of the starting windows loading screen (past alienware screen) theres a BSOD with the line
STOP: C0000135 The program can't start because %hs is missing. Try resintalling the program
and then restarts
same issue in safe mode...

Re: HELP C0000135 %hs is missing
Ok now i KNOW its avg.....
paying attention to the last thing windows tries to load before failing during safe mode boot, AVGIDSEH.sys is the last thing before BSOD

Re: HELP C0000135 %hs is missing
Ok I had this problem too I just fixed it, I had no recovery image either
1) Download the AVG Recovery CD at:
Free Antivirus | Forum - How To Disable AVG When The Operating System Cannot Be Started Properly
Once you boot up your PC off of the CD, select the first option. When the program loads go to
Utilities --> File Manager
from there go to
mnt
sda# (usually 1 will be your windows partition)
2) Go to your Program Files(x86) and rename the AVG folder by hitting F6 while highlighting the folder and name it to "garbage" or something
3) Restart your PC
4) Once in windows, rename that "garbage" folder back to AVG
5) Download the following removal tool program for your windows (32 or 64 bit)
http://www.avg.com/us-en/download-tools
6) Let the PC restart and all should be goodLast edited by danyune; 2nd December 2010 at 12:57 PM.

Re: HELP C0000135 %hs is missing
PROBLEM SOLVED! Used your method of renaming program folder.
Undid changes to system files first so i could single out the problem...
I guess its all just stupid AVG
what should I do with the program now? Im really lost...should I update to a newer version? or just screw avg and uninstall it?

Re: HELP C0000135 %hs is missing
yeah it is 100% avg
just renaming the folder fixes it
a lot of people have trusted Avira from what I understand, should hit that program up
I personally am just going to wait for AVG to fix

Re: HELP C0000135 %hs is missing
Thanks everyone! I just corrected the same issue AVG hosed Windows 7, but the XP machine did the update fine. I am done with AVG, it is too bloated and I am tired of the constant "Upgrade" pop-ups from it anyway. I appreciate your help!

I love you guys, I was up all last night troubleshooting this exact same issue. I can't wait to get home and fix this puppy! This is the first problem i've had with AVG...i'll probably give them one more chance but just one!
