The M17x is a glossy screen so it is tough to compare.
I noticed that as well but when I replaced the hard drive with an SSD it responds instantly now.
hmm, that RAM is 1333. I believe the stock RAM ran at 1600mhz so this reduced performance.
Most of the noise when just using the desktop is the HD. You hear it spinning and it sounds like the fan.
The middle is the RAM. Bottom left is the HD, back left and middle are the CPU/GPU.
