Default Samsung NP700Z5C Screen Upgrade Attempt

Hi, I recently discovered the Samsung Series 7 Laptops and bought two; NP700z3a-so6us and NP700z5c-s01us. I am very pleased with the overall computer as a whole and would be perfectly fine using it the way it comes out of the box, Im just a sucker for wanting to get the most out of my computers and apparently like to waste money. You must think im crazy for ripping apart my week old NP700Z5C but I really want to see what a 1920x1080 will do in this puppy! I was asked to start this thread, and I hope it will turn into a very informative thread on how to upgrade your display in the NP700 models. I hope to have pictures and video up soon.

OK so here is what i posted so far:

Ok I don't know about an IPS but this is what I'm trying PART NUMBER AUO B156HW01 V.4 FullHd display, should have it installed tomorrow or Wednesday I will post a thread if all goes well!

Also calibration through windows 7 is essential to get the most out of the factory display! It's not the worst display I have seen.

Just an update about my "attempted" screen upgrade. Had ordered an AOU b156HW01 V.4 and told it was compatible, it was not! Not only was the 40 pin connector to high, it was also to thick. Needless to say i was very disappointed since i ad already took apart the screen assembly. This was not all bad, the screen wasn't that bad to disassemble, it is not the same way as another poster had showed with pictures, but not very bad you just have to be very careful with the glued on bezel. Well working on finding a working upgrade screen fix. Will keep yall posted, if anyone knows please chime in, i want to do a full YouTube instruction video

Now what I have discovered is that I should have pulled my screen before I ordered something based on some salesman tells me it will work. What I have found also is there is not a lot of other compatible displays for this laptop that i can find. One thing with the first AUO display I got was that it was way to thick not to mentiion it did not have any of the mounts for the screws. What i was able to find is the AUO B156HW03 v.0 B156HW03 V.0 LAPTOP LCD SCREEN FROM $44. HP ACER TOSHIBA DELL APPLE COMPAQ. Notebook screen, laptop display, notebook lcd, laptop tft, screen DELL, ACER lcd, screens SONY, lcd DELL, ACER lcd. looks like the screen I need. No finding tech data on these screens is tough , especially for the Samsung screen. I was able to find the width and measure it out so it looks like it should work! Also the most important thing is the 40pin connector on this AUO looks to be in the right place finally! So first thing this morning Im sending back the one that doesnt fit and exchanging it for the HW03... fingers crossed!

Also I found a great site for replacement parts for Samsung Products Samsung Parts, Accessories, DLP TV Lamp, Remote Controls, AC Adapters
really wish they had pictures tho!

Ill be ordering the service manual soon!

what the...., a 1080 display only costs $91?? The 900 display probably cost them something like $60. Why the heck wouldn't Samsung pay the extra small amount to put in a better screen. They would double their customers. I just don't get it

I'm also interested to know if anyone finds a suitable matte version to replace the stock display

Update: unfortunately the hw03 does not fit either at this time I'm out of screens to try , but I wont stop searching for something that may work! There are lower resolution screens that fit but that is not the purpose of this thread!

Also it is very tough to get the bezel back on with out looking like crap, so I'm going to search and see if samsung sells the bezel new! Should be an inexpensive. Hopefully I will find something soon, I'm going to be researching out to my tech buds to see if we can find a replacement!

Just FYI if you do need to replace the factory LCD because of damage the process is not hard and very doable and inexpensive! The bezel is the only part that is sucks getting back on!

Try double sided tape and a blast of heat from a hairdryer to melt the tape on the bezel before sticking back. Caution on heat.
