That won't be a problem if the heat sink fits on the standard video card but there is a cut out on the corner and we don't know why they made the card like that if there is something on that corner of the card like a speaker or something it needs to be removed to fit the standard card

Other problem is getting the motherboard to recognize a totally different video card with new architecture in this case Kepler without bios support
Thanks for the informative reply Speedy Gonzalez. I always appreciate it.

How would I ever find out if the 675m that's in there is cut off on the corner for a reason, or just cause that's the way it's built?
will the only way to do that be to take apart my laptop? cause that seems like a lot of time and more importantly risk, to achieve nothing
but some info, there's got to be a better way?? maybe If I waited a month or two there would be some more info and disassemblys of this laptop posted online? anyone with some input, would be appreciated.

say I want to get the 7970m and put it in, will there be problems switching from nvidea to AMD? and when If I just buy the 7970m version when it comes out and give the 675 to my wife, will I face problems vice versa? switching from AMD to Nvidea this time, I've heard that's not usually a roadblock but never been confident of that. so again, any input from the folks here is appreciated.

you said the motherboard might not recognize the new kepler GPUs, if that's the case you would sure think they might not recognize the new 28nm versions from AMD? no? or what about the new new versions from either company in a year or two if I decide to wait to upgrade till then?

And when you said "without bios support" I have no Idea what that really means, can you elaborate on the whole "bios", "flash", and upgrading motherboards(if possible), and installing new software on mobos, or even replacing mobos? or whatever option(s) seems realistic in any possible way. I'm quite determined to make this work somehow and I have a feeling I'm not the only one.

You seem like a smart guy. Thanks in advance. I appreciate the help

I guess the only way to find out why the card is like that is taking the machine apart or try to find more pictures of the last year machine

I said bios support because laptops don't usually accept any video card you throw in there like desktops if the tech is new like on the case of kepler is may don't work

the 7970m has more chances to work because they are releasing a Samsung gamer with that card so we may have the proper support in the bios already

lemme know if I don't explain good my English is not to good

So we're sure there's going to be a 7970 version right? And if there is do you guys have any idea when it's going to come out (approximately)?

I'm really interested in getting this laptop, but my only concern right now is the laptop cooling. How's the temp on the laptop. I saw this post by GTamega and he said his temp went up to 90 degrees.

That's really the only thing holding me back from getting this laptop.
Does the laptop have bad cooling?
