Okay so I just got mine last night. I was out running errands when ups attempted delivery so I had to go pick it up at 8pm when they off loaded the truck. The first thing I will mention is that anyone who spoke about how awesome the display is wasn't exhaggerating. That is the first thing you'll notice, and I guarantee you'll crack an ear to ear grin when you first power it on. The keyboard is very nice as well. I like how the keys feel when pressed. The sound system is not awful. I listened to some music and it sounded kinda decent. But its also not excellent, as this thing ain't pumping out tons of bass. Then again, I've never personally seen a laptop that does. I would have to wage that this bad boy is capable of 3D, it just needs some driver/BIOS updating from Samsung. I will be emailing them with that suggestion/demand later today. I suggest everyone who owns this to please do the same. With enough outcry, they'll do it. I did turn on 120hz and nearly crapped my pants at how amazing the display looked with it on. Its funny, because I was almost set on the Asus g75 series, and someone suggested this. There's no way anything else's screen quality would be anywhere near this, period. I get off work at 2pm eastern time today. I'll be making a youtube video showcasing and giving my initial impressions. Anything you guys would like to see me cover?

I'd like to ask if you could please show battery life in Power Saver mode with minimum screen brightness while surfing on wireless. Thanks.

Hello Drunken, glad you enjoy it - can you comment to how loud/soft the cooling system is?

I have a couple more quick questions if you don't mind..
I have the chance to trade this new 256 GB 830 samsung ssd for any other sdd i want, but i don't really know if I want to yet, thats why I'm hoping you can help me, please and thank you

---how would you say the build quality is on these things, such as craftsmanship, reliability, durability, and overall quality components?
Is it all top of the class? or at least among the top?

---is it easy to install the thing into the np700g7c? and easy to take the computer apart to get it in there?

--- when you took opened the PC up to put this in did it look like getting to the gpu and possibly replacing it in the future might be a possibility with enough work and a day or so to spare?

---last but not least I cannot find out where it says on your post that the computer is sata 3 capable, I'm kind of a noob. I would just like to be %100 precent sure it will run the full capacity of sata 3. Now I would have sworn that it would only run at sata 2 because the stock hdd's are only sata 2 so I assumed that's all it would be capable of. It would be very helpful if you could put my mind at ease that this PC will run the 830 sata 3 ssd at it's full capacity with no 'bottleneck' effect. otherwise i will sell it while its still worth a few hundred and just use the decent 750 hdds. so yeah could you point out where it shows it?

Thank you so much in advance, I'm sure if you can answer all these questions, me and everyone else on this forum would appreciate it very much.
This Laptop build quality is amazing to be made of plastic and Aluminum is real solid like a G75 the palmrest is made of brushed aluminum and the lid is too but coated with clear coat it looks real nice and classy

Samsung drives are some of the best quality and reliable SSD's they not the fastest but they are good enough the quality of the case is good like other SSD's plastic with aluminum

if you read this part is running at sata 6gb that means sata 3

to install drives on this machine takes 1 min there is only 1 screw to remove for the cover and 2 holding the drive the video cards and cpu are not accessible you will need to take the machine apart to get to those

After reading the instruction manual for this laptop online I'm positive it doesn't have an IR emitter for active shutter glasses, as all it mentions is pairing Bluetooth glasses for 3D to work.

I have two theories, one, you just need a regular pair of Samsung bluetooth glasses like Speedy Gonzalez mentions, but I fear this won't work because I'm not sure the nvidia driver will correctly pair the glasses over Bluetooth as all current iterations of 3D Vision use IR glasses. I found a pair of legitimate Samsung Bluetooth glasses on Amazon for $19 and ordered them just to try and see if they work with my laptop, unfortunately these glasses ship from TigerDirect and won't be here until next Friday, so chances are Speedy Gonzalez will be able to try these theory before I do, I really hope it works as this would mean access to 3D with a minimum investment for the 675 model of this laptop, basically an almost free upgrade for us.

My second theory is the video driver won't detect the Bluetooth emitter, or will just fail to get along with it, in that case, since the panel is 120Hz, all that's needed is a standalone 3D vision kit with the included IR emitter. It would only mean an investment of around $100 for the cheapest kit available, not bad considering you get to watch bluray movies and play games with reduced detail settings on an excellent panel, other 3D laptops start at higher prices and usually pack slower video cards than the 675 for their entry level models.

Personally, I would hate for this to be the case as I already have 3 pairs of Nvidia glasses that came included with my monitors, and Nvidia doesn't sell an IR emitter by itself, beggars cant be choosers

Either way this is a win-win scenario, and would make an already excellent laptop really awesome! Don't you guys agree?

EDIT: I didn't read this post until after I posted mine, so you already tried using an IR emitter and 3d vision glasses?

This doesn't bode well... Have you tried using the latest nvidia drivers?

You can try to install and use nvinspector to access hiden control panel settings, you can find it here:

NVIDIA Inspector 1.9.6.5 download from Guru3D.com

If that doesn't work, a bios flash will be needed, or perhaps there's a registry key that can be altered to enable the 3d settings on the nvidia control panel.
I don't think Nvidia inspector would enable 3d vision options but if you know where on the registry to enable it lemme know and I can try

This machine has the same screen the M17X r3 3D has super bright colorful and high contrast is amazing for gaming like you said there is not a better screen on a 17" laptop than this
now crank up your digital vibrance on Nvidia control panel to 70% and you may have a heart attack of how beautiful games look that way

cool and quiet and you can toggle off fans with F11 in balanced mode for full silence....well, you still hear the HD, unless you install an SSD.

wnsrzf - I don’t understand. Did you find the 700G7C with the HD7970M or are you saying you really wish it had the HD7970M? I posted a link some time ago to an online laptop company in the UK that has this unit in stock and it had the 3D screen to boot but no HD7970M.

I still think its going to be a while before we see the 7970M in the US. That’s all I can say at the moment
