Is ExpressCache compatible with all applications?

No. ExpressCache is incompatible with the following third party software
applications.

1. TrueCrypt - Free open-source disk encryption software for Windows.
ExpressCache will not maintain cached data from the encrypted
volume between reboots.

Can I install/uninstall ExpressCache as a standard user?

No. You must have an administrator account.

Note: Make sure you are logged onto an account that is a member
of the Administrators group.

The ExpressCache installation is typically fast and simple.
Here are the basic steps:

1. Double-click the ExpressCache installation file in Easy Software Manager.

2. Follow the screens displayed, answering the questions
asked as prompted.

To uninstall ExpressCache, you must be logged into an account that
is a member of the Administrators group.

Follow these steps to completely remove and uninstall ExpressCache
from your computer. Note that the controls may have slightly
different names, depending on your version of Windows:

1. From the Control Panel, double click "Add/Remove Programs".

2. Highlight the ExpressCache entry.

3. Click Remove. This removes the ExpressCache program files
from your computer.

4. Manually delete the ExpressCache installation directory if it
exists.

False. Did you know that you can go to diskmgmt.msc and reformat the partition for any use? Suggested uses: Internet browser cache, backups, or even as a spare drive.

I just upgraded to the 17" S7 from a Dell XPS M1730 and just couldn't face re-installing all of my applications so I hit on the idea of virtualising the Dell and running it under VMware. That turned out to be one of my better ideas as the virtualised x32 W7 Ultimate system is running much faster on the S7 than it did natively on the Dell, even though I've capped the RAM at 3GB and only let it use half of the S7's cores.

The only thing I've noticed is the almost constant HDD use, which I assume is the virtualised page file.

I'm planning to switch the HDD to a Seagate Momentus XT (just waiting for them to release a 1TB version) and figured that I could use the ExpressCache drive for the page file but I haven't worked out how to do that yet without causing problems elsewhere.

I just looked in diskmgmt.msc and I can see the 7.46gb drive but there's no option to reformat it. I *do* have an option to "Delete volume" but, if I do that:

1) what else will I need to do to make use of the drive

2) what's the process for reverting to ExpressCache use?

For a system using HDDs (not SSD), and fully Truecrypt encrypted, is there a significant benefit to using ExpressCache? Or is it not worth the trouble?
