It is more of a personal preference I guess.

When the system goes into standby (due to no usage over the power plan timeout length), it will not resume windows properly.

This only happens when I have a USB 2.0 hub connected. The USB hub has a couple of external drives attached (switched off), a couple of USB cables (not connected to anything) and the radio transceiver for my external mouse.

When I resume the system, the screen stays black. Rebooting the system does not help - it goes through check disk etc, but then goes black again.

However, if I disconnect the hub and then reboot it, all is well.

As said, I'm sure this is a generic problem which can easily be fixed. Thanks.
Just a follow up to this. I have solved the problem by Setting "USB S3 Wake-up" to "Enabled" in BIOS. Since I did this, there are no issues on wake up from sleep.

I have no clue. I assumed it was something to do with going to sleep with USB peripherals attached....

Since I switched 'USB S3 Wake-up' to enabled, the USB is providing power even when the laptop is in sleep. Not ideal...

That does make sense though, if the plugged item is still drawing power then battery life reduces. If I'm not mistaken this is common for some other laptop manufacturers.

If you open easy settings the first option it gives you is to 'enable USB charging'. Set this to NO if you don't want the USB to charge when in idle.

Hi. Thanks for that. I checked that setting before and after changing the "USB S3 wakeup" in BIOS. At all times it has been set to NO. It seems that the BIOS setting overrides (or conflicts with) the Easy Settings.

Last night, I reset the BIOS to disabled. I will work around this whole thing for the moment, by switching the auto sleep off when plugged in.
