Default Yet another thread about 7970M issues

I have a Malibal P150EM-SE (the NP9150) with a 7970M GPU, and I'm extremely annoyed at some games' inability to detect the dGPU. The 7970M is detected and used in most of my games, like all of my Source Engine games/programs, BF3, Tribes: Ascend, etc. However, it refuses to be recognized in some other games (Dolphin emulator and Skyrim), instead defaulting to the default graphics.

Currently I am using the 12.3 drivers with the 12.7 beta driver (only the display driver) installed on top, I'm basically at my wit's end, and I'm very frustrated with both AMD and Clevo for not giving us more functional drivers.

Is there anything I can do to have the dGPU recognized in these programs?

With Skyrim make sure that Skyrim.exe is associated with the "high performance" option. You may need to add it manually under switchable graphics in the CCC.

Go into CCC to the switchable graphics tab and manually add the .exe files. Skyrim has two, a launcher and the actual game; make sure you are adding the game and not the launcher.

The problem is, I've already gone into CCC and set Dolphin.exe, launcher.exe (whatever it's called), and tesv.exe to High Performance, yet neither program actually recognizes the 7970M. Neither program recognizes or uses the dGPU at all.

Given as the issue only occurs with these two games, and not BF3, TF2, et al, I assume it's a software issue. Is there anywhere else in CCC that I might need to go to fix this? Will I have to reinstall the drivers or anything?

I'm extremely frustrated by this. I can tell this is a remarkably powerful card, but the lack of driver support is infuriating.

Skyrim doesn't detect the 7970 for me in the launcher, but it still uses the 7970 since I can tell by the fps

well my ccc detects skyrim alright, like with every other game. I started the game for the first time. closed it and then ccc detected it.

With games like Skyrim, are you running it through Steam? If so, I would recommend setting Steam.exe to High Performance as well. Give it a try and report back if it helps.

Also, I would strongly recommend resetting your system back to the factory drivers. I honestly don't understand why some folks feel the need to install the Beta drivers as they tend to do more harm than good from observations. There are others in these forums that are running games just fine using the factory Sager drivers.

Also, do we really need to have more new threads created on a subject for which there are threads that already exist for the topic?

Without the 12.7 beta I was getting BSOD's for example on the reseller supplied driver. So I'd say the 12.7 beta is a good alternative. No more BSOD's since upgrade.

I am using the factory drivers (8.951.6) and I run Skyrim on ultra settings at 60 FPS.
