    The Fn+1 Combo used twice does turn off the fan for me if temp is below 50-ish....It will come back on and stay that way though if temps exceed 50 again. Kind of annoying, but a small price to pay for this machine.

    Interesting... so it seems there might be a way to kill the fans via software...

    Fn+1 works for me. Both fans shut off and neither turns on again until the temp goes above 50C for either CPU or GPU. The GPU never turns on until I open a program listed as "high performance" that stresses it a bit. The CPU will turn back on its lowest setting while browsing, then it won't turn back off even when it hits its idle of 38C. It'd be nice if Clevo or Sager releases an update that does this automatically.

    Schenker Notebooks (mysn.de) published an BIOS Update for the P502 (P150EM) Notebook yesterday on their website.

    I'm not sure if I'm allowed to post the direct link of the bios upgrade files, so here is a description how you will get it:
    Goto: mySN.de | XMG XIRIOS XESIA | buy Schenker Notebooks => Support => Treiberdownload => XMG => XMG_P502 => BIOS => XMG_P502_MIT_BELEUCHTETER_TASTATUR. Files: P150EM_B05 and P150EM_EC05

    There is also a BIOS update for the P170EM (XMG P702) located at => XMG => XMG_P702 => P170EM_B06.zip and P17EMEC06.zip).
    Although the different BIOS version numbers between P150EM and P170EM, the changes are the same.
    The Schenker support stated in a german notebook forum that the BIOS Update fixes the issue that the gpu fans sometimes doesn't turn off when the gpu gets idle again.

    06/2012 = EC 1.00.06b (download)

    - EC firmware 1.00.06b for P17xEM only.
    - Solve "No idle mode after 3D mode" issue.
    - Run update.bat in pure DOS environment to start procedure.

    Important: If your laptop has an EC installed, you will first have to apply the EC05 (EC06 for P170EM) update and then the B05 (B06 for P170EM) update.
    To check if your laptop has an EC, just boot into your BIOS (press F2 when your notebook boots up) and search for an EC version number on the first BIOS page. If you don't find an EC version number, you most probably won't have an EC installed and you only need to apply the B05 update.

    To apply the BIOS update, you will have to boot into DOS mode. The easiest way is imho to create a bootable USB stick. Just google for "DOS USB Stick boot".

    Please consider that you update the BIOS at your own risk!
