Default For Sager owners... what's your overall feel towards your computer? Would you have bought a different brand?

I've been hunting for a low-mid range gaming machine and I've been thinking about the np5160. The base model is spec'd with an i5 and 540m which I can find in laptops down to the $500 range yet I still feel more intrigued to buy a sager even though I've never purchased a Sager before. Does anyone else feel this way about sagers? Keep in mind, I've never owned a Sager before.

I hear about Sager's top notch build quality, but at the same time I hear about overheating issues, and speaker issues. It seems like they have pros/cons just like any other brand but they seem very popular at the same time..

For people who went with Sager over other brands, what's your overall feel towards their computers?

Love it. I'm on my 3rd Sager in about 9 years (due to technological obsolescence - all 3 laptops still run). But then again, the way in which I need to use this laptop is atypical.

In general, I think there are less overheating issues w/ Clevo/Sager than other brands. I cannot say this w/ other Sager/Clevo models, but the x7200 has an outstanding cooling system.

However, (again in general) the speakers do leave a little to be desired. The x7200 speakers are average at best, but that can be solved with a nice pair of headphones or external speakers.

For my next laptop, I will probably choose another brand.
But that's only because I don't like sticking with just one brand.

Overall, my Clevo laptop is alright. I don't have many complaints. It works and it works at a good price point. But, like I said, I will probably try out another brand for my next laptop in 2 years or so.
Dell XPS M1330 : The worst laptop I've ever owned.
Gateway P-7807u FX : Almost broke my shoulder.
Ideapad Y460 : Pleased with it but weak keyboard.
Lotus P151HM1 : Healthy so far. Would have liked 900p instead of 1080p.

they are actually clevo laptops and sager is one of many resellers in the usa.
my m860tu is 3.5 years old and still going strong. i only found out about them from this forum after the nightmare i had with alienware.
i sure wont be going anywhere else and will when needed buy another clevo again.

I love my Clevo D901C (almost 4 years old now!). The only problems I've ever had with it are problems that I largely created myself. None of these problems were the fault of Clevo/Sager. This is a rock-solid machine. I have put it through a lot of abuse and yet it still functions! It's still very fast, and I love it to pieces. However, its extreme weight and short battery life make it an unattractive option for carrying around a lot. Fortunately it rarely moves, so its goal as a 'Deskbook' is served quite well.

I have also referred a friend to get a Sager W870CU a while back, and he absolutely loves it. I warned him of the poor battery life, but he still doesn't care about that. It's a mobile desktop, and it has not had any problems at all. The only issues have been user-created or from AMD 5870m drivers. Again, not the fault of Clevo/Sager.

My next machine is going to be the Clevo P270WM. I know that for 100% certainty. I am very excited about it, too!

For a gaming machine or a machine that is packed with power, I would never look at any other brand besides Sager/Clevo. However, for my true portability needs (business environment for sure) I would go with Lenovo. Currently, I have a Lenovo x120e and I like it. It's not insanely fast, but it sure is portable, and its battery life is amazing. Excellent little thing for taking around.

My experience with Clevo has always been very positive. Power, cooling, good price. And though I currently own an AW, my next laptop may be a Clevo, who knows. You won't go wrong with Clevo, 100%.

Yeah, get your money back and order from a reputable reseller, luckily you have quite a few options here

Well, thankfully I only ordered one to start, the deal I got was great, but upon recieving the product there was an issue that got worse and worse, they have the machine now, but Ive basically made it known that my patience is short after reading some past issues they have had here and there. The "tech dept" has been OK I guess though thus far, they have paid for the return shipping, but a few red flags have been thrown up(Thankfully I paid with CC so my purchase is covered), but Im willing to let this play out before I post a thread or respond back here on the overall results and experience.......the second laptop Im buying though I've decided to pick up through a reseller with good feedback through this board. Next laptop is going to be a barebones MSI 1761 or an Alienware m17x for the SO.
