Clevo P170HMx problems (alot)
Hi all,
I am new here and registered to this forum because i have a huge huge huge problem with my Clevo P170HMx. I ordered my laptop back in +/- 14 March 2011 and received it in +/- 16 April 2011 but from day one i have problems with this laptop. After i installed Windows 7 X64 bit my laptop got a blue screen of death (first time i rebooted it). First i thought it was nothing but the next day (or the day after) i got randomly blue screens of death with different codes. I contacted my supplier a few weeks later about the issue and i told him ''deamon tools'' probably installed a faulty driver that might cause a bsod so he said to me to reinstall windows and check again without deamon tools. I reinstalled windows +/- 2 weeks ago but after a week i just received those bsod's again with different error codes.
The error codes i got so far are
stop: 0x00000109
stop: 0x0000005C
stop: 0x000000C2
stop: 0x000000C9
stop: 0x0000003B
stop: 0x0000000A
and probably more but i couldnt see everything of it, i changed the bsod setting at a later date so i could read it and close it manually.
Now what i did is using memtest86+ and ran it for 20-21 hours and it did not detect any faulty memory. I used google to find more info about memtest and a user on another forum said to test Prime95.
Well from Prime95 it went bad, it says my core is faulty (CPU). Because i did not wan't to trust just 1 program i contacted my supplier and he gaved me another test program called OCCTPT and even that one says the same.
My thoughts about the errors are
- Faulty mainboard.
- Faulty cpu
- Faulty ram
is there anyone having the same issue as me ??? because i payed alot of money for this laptop and the issues should not be there. I have a older Packard Bell from 2006 and i tested those programs on it as well and it has no issues
My specs:
Clevo P170HM rev.B3 (Bios updated to revision v1.01.06, because i asked clevo the same about the errors i got and they gaved me the latest update.)
GTX 485/2GB
Intel Core i7 - 2720QM 2.20 - 3.30 Ghz
Intel WiFi 62230 LAN (Half Mini Card) 300Mbps + Bluetooth
Corsair 4 GB SO-DDR3-1333 CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9
Corsair 4 GB SO-DDR3-1333 CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9
Seagate Momentus XT 500GB ST95005620AS (Firmware sd25)
LG CT30N slimline Blu-ray ROM
Any help would be much appreciated because from how i look at it now it was not worth the money
.
Extra info: I contacted deamon tools about the problems i got and they asked me to send the minidump files located in the windows/minidump folder. I gaved them all the dumps i got and a few hours later they send me a email back and said everything was related to faulty memory according to the dumps i have send.
My question would be, if i have faulty memory will the programs from the screenshot shows faulty cpu cores (like prime95 does because it says ''hardware failure'' if i scroll down those bars) ????Last edited by MichelN; 4th June 2011 at 02:40 PM.

I remember I had similar problems with a desktop a few years back with similar errors. After a lot of head scratching (and time wasted) it turned out the CPU was bad. I think you're on the right track of it being either your motherboard or CPU. I'm assuming your laptop is still under warranty?

Hey I used to get lots of BSOD on my Dell XPS M1730 and I remember getting the “IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL” BSOD screen like you showed. In my case the problem was a software conflict caused by Outpost Firewall you might have the same kind of problem. If not then it could be the RAM it might need to be reseated because other users in here have had similar issues. Do you still get BSOD when you do a clean install of windows? If you have not tried that yet maybe you should do a clean install and don’t install any software and see what happens.

I get the same issues after a clean install. Also i am using Windows own firewall with Avira virus scanner.
I never had issues with this combo before and i use this combo for over 6 years.
I bought it in April 2011 so yeah i have full warranty.

RMA the laptop and good luck. Ask for a partial refund for having a no laptop.

Most likely a hardware issue then you should do an RMA with your supplier they will find out what the problem is and repair it for you.

Re: Clevo P170HMx problems (alot)
Yeah i already contacted the supplier from day one (to let them know i had issues already from day one with bsod), those people are very friendly and helpful. I asked them today for a RMA and they said no problem, i could send it to their adress or bring it to them by my self.
But i wanted to know if people on this board had similar issues like me.
Anyone is using deamon tools on their P170HM laptop ???, i doubt this program is the problem but i just need to know it for 100%.Last edited by MichelN; 4th June 2011 at 05:00 PM. Reason: typos

If it's not currently installed and you're still having BSOD's, then there's no way it can be related to that one piece of software. It sounds like you did a fresh install of Windows and are still having issues, so it can't be related then. BSOD's on a fresh Windows install sounds like it's more hardware related then software.

Re: Clevo P170HMx problems (alot)
Well i don't say they didn't install it incorrectly, there must be a faulty hardware somewhere that they didn't know off
.
I also contacted Deamon tools and they asked me nice to send over the dump files so they could investigate it, i have send them 2 dump files from +/- 4 weeks ago and they said both dump files where having issues with bad ram.
I have send them 2 other dump files from today (because i got 2 bsod's today) and they will tell me more about it on monday.Last edited by MichelN; 4th June 2011 at 05:21 PM.

Re: Clevo P170HMx problems (alot)
Hi I have Clevo P170HM from 2-3 months. And I have installed Deamon Tools version 4.40.2.0131 and it's working perfectly I didn't experience any BSOD or unexpected freeze. Previously I had problems with freezes but it was related with damaged A-Data modules, I bought new one 2 x Corsair CMSO4GX3M1A1333C9 and now my notebook works perfectly all the time. try to unmount one module of RAM and test again. Do you installed all chipset drivers ? Dude you have exactly that same piece of hardware which I have, it must be good ! Feel free to ask me about anything I made big investigation with drivers before I realize that my RAM was a problem. If you want to talk on Skype my login is: jezykwaw , maybe i could help you. Best Regards.
