Atmosk's Nvidia Clevo support modded INF's
Update: 10/31/11
Added inf for 285.64 and 285.69.
NOTE: As of 280.26 the following Clevo cards are officially supported by Nvidia's Verde driver package:
This topic will be updated as needed.Code:DEV_061D&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA Quadro FX 2800M" DEV_0DD1&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460M" DEV_0E31&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 485M" DEV_0DED&SUBSYS_25001558 "NVIDIA GeForce GT 520M" DEV_0DF4&SUBSYS_51401558 "NVIDIA GeForce GT 540M'" DEV_0DCE&SUBSYS_15001558 "NVIDIA GeForce GT 555M" DEV_1251&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 560M" DEV_1211&SUBSYS_51021558 "NVIDIA GeForce GTX 580M"
This topic is for those enthusiasts like myself who either don't want to wait for Clevo's driver update schedule or just enjoy running the latest drivers for their video card.
Q. What does this inf do?
A. Device drivers use a .inf file to specify which device and subsystem id's they will install on, as well as control settings and modes for those devices, Nvidia releases a generic driver for mobile cards that are not specifically vendor branded, in the case of the Clevo cards they are vendor branded and have non-generic id's and are not supported by the generic driver package.
This inf is an altered copy of the generic driver's inf incorporating the id's, settings and modes of the Clevo cards effectively adding support to the driver for these models.
Q. What are the pro's of using a modded inf?
A. Using the most up to date drivers can offer various up sides like increased compatibility/performance in games or fixes for issues that were present in older revisions.
Q. What are the cons of using a modded inf?
A. The only real downside if you can call it one is that the driver effectively becomes unsigned when a modded inf is used, however even with Windows 7 64-bit's strict driver signature enforcement it does make exceptions for critical components such as the video card and will merely present a warning during install only.
Apart from that there is the slight chance of issues with the driver but should an issue arise you can always roll back or install a different driver entirely.
DISCLAIMER: This is for enthusiasts, I don't encourage anyone who is unfamiliar with rolling back drivers or who is comfortable with their current setup to use these inf's, use them at your own discretion, while big issues are very unlikely there may be a case that you will need to roll back to an older driver revision.
I'll be updating this topic as new driver revisions come out and I make new modded inf's for them, those that are interested have at it.
As of 275.50 INF v2, current support for the following Clevo hardware was added:
Code:Geforce GTX 560M Geforce GTX 580M
Usage:
To use the inf, copy nvcv.inf to the Display.Driver folder of the driver package or refer to the guide below (Note if INF's are posted here for dev branch drivers or desktop only revs the inf filename will vary):

If theres a driver revision you don't see posted here and would like an inf for it, PM me with the revision and a link to the driver, Desktop and Notebook driver types are interchangeable when modded.

Thanks. 267.76 was just released but looks like it doesn't support 485m. Maybe I'll try this inf.

NP. I used the INF you posted, but with the lv2g drivers (270.28) and it installed fine. Not sure if it botched anything up by doing that but no issues so far.

thanks
hope ht and the other guys with the 485 can comment on these.
hopefully bd, cuda, physix all work. i stopped using modded drivers a while mainly because some features just dont seem to work with modded drivers/infs.
hopefully these do.

Re: Atmosk's Nvidia Clevo support modded INF's
What are the drawbacks for using a modded inf apart from it bring unsigned? Will it cause the hardware to fry?

Re: Atmosk's Nvidia Clevo support modded INF's
No, it just adds the installation parameters that nVidia doesn't!
