Sager NP8690 Problem
Hey Guys,
My Np8690 will not turn on. When I have the adapter plugged in the light is green, however when I plug it into the laptop it Starts flashing. Then pulling it back out it goes back to green. I called Sager and they think its a short, any chance you think I can pull everything out like hd, dvd drive, battery, GPU, CPU, ram maybe it may fix the short?

Re: Sager NP8690 Problem
This may sounds like a stupid answer so bear with me, im guessing you have dont these already however Im just going to ask

When you plug the adapter in does the button at the right side of the laptop light up blue ?
And have you tried presseing the on button a couple of times, when I first got mine my lappy wouldnt turn on so I pressed the on button a couple of times and it seemed to work

Re: Sager NP8690 Problem
If it's shorted, I'm pretty sure that removing components will not resolve the short. You'll need to send it to Sager for repairs. My guess is that they'll probably swap the motherboard and AC adapter.

Re: Sager NP8690 Problem
It has been known to happen (in all notebooks, not just this make/model) generally the power circuitry on the motherboard is fried.

Re: Sager NP8690 Problem
Even though it probably won't help, before replacing the mobo try the power flush - unplug the power, battery out, press&hold the power button for a few sec, bring back the battery and see ...
I'd do another stupid thing - disassemble the system and re-seat everything I can (CPU/GPU/RAM..etc).HP EliteBook 2570p

Re: Sager NP8690 Problem
I would probably be a D**k about it, send it back and ask for a free upgrade or accessory for my time and hassle. But thats just me, if your not bothered about the return wait just send it back for a new one

Re: Sager NP8690 Problem
Ya I tried that as well, its just annoying since I only had it for about 2.5 months. Maybe I will complain because I live in Canada and they won't cover shipping back and forth to here... So not only is it a inconvinience but I have to pay more money to get it fixed.
