Re: Buy GTX 280M from Europe?
Really DO NOT buy from europe!
I too am unfortunate to live here and the prices for any component that contains a chip is outrageous.
I'm planing to get a clevo M680ETU and configuring in european shops was a nightmare.
My cfg price always came out around 2000. But what european seellers seem to miss is that 2000€ ≠ 2000$... this is a ripoff. Even the shipping costs sometimes hapened to bigger from eu to eu than from us to eu.
Rj tech seem to have it, but it's in us and not exactly cheap.
Please tell us your findings.

Re: Buy GTX 280M from Europe?
Ah, you just have to look around. I managed to get this M860TU for under £1,000 in fact it was nearly under £900. Novatech were also selling their last stock of M860TU's (with GT's) for under £700 a few weeks back. They're all out now but it happens. But that goes to show that we can compete with US prices at times.
Your best bet is to contact one of the reps at Kobalt. They said they will sell the 280M/260M seperately but at a high price for now (talking £300+) and apparently there are plenty in stock!

as Oiad said^^
Kobalt will be selling stand alone 260 & 280 cards but this will be after all the back orders of laptops have been built.>>>--- Everything you need to Monitor Temperatures & More ---<<<

Re: Buy GTX 280M from Europe?
So as I understand, for now only Kobalt is selling the 280M stand alone. I will also look at RJ Tech (490 USD ~ 350 euro ~ 300 GBP) but to their price I have to add transport, VAT, custom duties and could end up more expensive than buying from EU.

Correct and correct.
So their backorder hasn't been met yet?Kobalt will be selling stand alone 260 & 280 cards but this will be after all the back orders of laptops have been built.
I know your quite cossy with the Kobalt team MrDJ, maybe you'll know - will they actually be selling the componants seperately on their website or will you have to contact them personally to make an order?

Re: Buy GTX 280M from Europe?
not saying that all the back orders have not been met yet but anyone ordering a new laptop will get priority.
i know they were saying the 260 will be on their website as a stand alone order so i guess the 280 will be as well.
the 280 cards may take longer as the priority is for the new m980nu which will be coming soon.>>>--- Everything you need to Monitor Temperatures & More ---<<<

Re: Buy GTX 280M from Europe?
Don't know about you but I'm not quite feeling brave enough to put a 280M in, especially as H-Emmanuel's thread suggested the need to practically rip of the metal panel on the card... Unless Kobalt decide to sell their cards fully-prepped of course.

It's stuck with the customs. I've sent them the payment for taxes and everything, so hopefully I'll get it next week some time.
