Pfft... There's a fan ?? What noise ? Well.... using my desktop this thing feels like it's not even there.... And I don't think even the "Daredevil" could hear it... On automatic, it's very pleasant.... and on full blast it's a bit noticeable but I wouldn't categorize the sound as annoying, infact it's quite a silent hum.... And when gaming, whether with internal speakers or headphones, either way, I wouldn't hear the noise one bit, so doesn't affect me at all!

Also about the fans, I've been reading over Chaz's review and I have a question. It says that fn+1 = max and fn+3 = med. Is the medium setting the same thing as the auto setting? I feel that most of the time I'll be using this thing I will just be leaving it on auto..so is fn+f3 the correct combo for that?

The 5793 is loud, no doubt about it. It has two blower type fans in it kicking out air constantly, and they do a good job but the decibels of the room suffers for it. It's not necessarily annoying, but it commands attention. At a LAN party with headphones or an otherwise loud place it's not a problem, but I would hesitate before taking it to say, the library.

I leave mine on auto. The original shipped 5793 in February had a weird fan pattern, it would speed up and slow down seemingly at random, but since then they updated the firmware and it's more consistent now. I'm not sure under what conditions you'd want to have the fan on max really, since the auto seems happy to crank itself up to max when it thinks it needs to.

    fn+F1=full blast, press fn+F1=auto
fn+F3=med, will speed up when necessary
however, mine never fully rotated by auto no matter what
