    Default Sager Model Update

    Sager News 9/6/2007
Minor Sager NP5790 (Clevo M570RU) refresh
Sager NP5790 has been refreshed into Sager NP5791
    NP5790: Does not support Intel Turbo Memory (1x Mini-PCI / 1x Mini-PCIe)
NP5791: Now supporting Intel Turbo Memory (2x Mini-PCIe)
Turbo Memory & TV-Tuner shares the same Mini-PCIe socket, therefore the two cannot coexist

1024MB Intel Turbo Memory available now
TV-tuner availability pending (ETA late September)

*NOTE* this is not the same model refresh Sager announced on 8/31/2007.
There will be an additional model refresh in the near future, most likely named Sager NP5792, in order to support Intel Mobile Extreme processors.

I don't really care about Turbo Memory or the Mobile Extreme processors but I'm worried that these refresh maybe more then just that. What if these updates made it so that the NP5791/NP5792 are upgradeable to the 8800M but the NP5790 is not? I just wish someone could answer that question. Not trying to put the heat on you or anything......I know your just reporting the news you got. Thank you for that.

I just placed an order last night (Wednesday night) -- does that mean I'll get the NP5791 by chance? Or are those still off in the distance.

(I only ask since I care about the 8800M as well ..

These updates do not have any impact on future video card support. Nobody knows what is required for the 8800, so any of the current changes don't pertain to any future use of this card.

I've hit Justin with a million emails over the last week... so if anyone is annoying him, it's probably me :-).

I asked a Sager rep a couple of questions about the refreshes and he told me that the redesign for NP579x that allows the Mobile Extreme will actually be a redesign of the motherboard and the case of the system, and that redesign is scheduled as "coming soon".

As for the chance of graphics card updatability he was unable to provide any information since (as we know on these forums) Nvidia and ATI haven't released any new mobile chips/cards.

Hey Justin - If we've placed an order, but are waiting on the 7950gtx, will we get the 5791?
