Are you still having issues with your tab key?

Guys a few things I'd like some help with:
    1. Tweaking the THX setup. Anyone else notice that when it's turned up loud, it doesn't quite sound equal from the highs to the lows? Sometimes I notice a volume jump between different parts of a song where it comes in and out almost like a phasing sound. If you guys have got it sounding perfect post up your config settings in the THX software. I listen to a lot of rock music so fast beats are probably causing it to work harder.

    2. What are the optimal global settings for GTX 675M Nvidia control panel with stock drivers? I want this thing to use the Nvidia GPU 99% of the time, as it's almost always plugged in so power consumption is not an issue. Also there are some extra options to enable that I'm not sure about:
    OPTION : SETTING
    Ambient Occlusion : Quality
    Anisotropic filtering : Application-controlled
Antialiasing - Gamma correction : On
    Antialiasing - Mode : Application-controlled
    Antialiasing - Setting : Application-controlled (greyed out)
    Antialiasing - Transparency : Off
    CUDA - GPUs : All
    Maximum pre-rendered frames : 3
Multi-display/mixed-GPU acceleration : Single display performance mode
Power Management Mode : Prefer Maximum Performance
Texture filtering - anisotropic sample option : Off
Texture filtering - negative lod bias : allow
Texture filtering - Quality : Quality
Texture filtering - Trilinear Optimization : On
    Threaded optimization : Auto
    Triple buffering : off
vertical sync : Use the 3d application setting

I'd also like to know if there is a way to disable the FN + F4 combination. Whoever designed the keys in this order should be shot. Goes f3 = Mute volume, f4 = sleep mode, f5 = vol down, f6 = vol up.

I am always accidentally trying to turn down/mute and sleeping this thing in the middle of my games. Any way to disable that or maybe it's a windows setting I can just disable... hmmm.

    Thanks for any help guys!

I've had my P170EM for about a week now- and I'm having trouble with the SD card reader. While not a killer problem, I am an avid photographer, and it's very nice to have this feature working. I've tried downloading new drivers from Realtek, but they install without any confirmation of the device working, and Windows still doesn't recognize the part. Nothing happens when known working cards are inserted.

...and I've answered my own question. Card drivers found HERE worked great.

Wow. I just spent days slogging through every post in this thread. Some absolutely great information and pics too! This has also cemented my desire to get one of these laptops

I am hoping some more info on the 7970m is posted soon, this would be my first choice for a card. Now comes the choosing a reseller, from reading it looks like there are a lot of good choices. Very glad of all the input to be found here.

So I recently won a bet from my brother for 150$ so I'm thinking about upgrading to 90% color gamut screen...would that be better or a gpu upgrade? the gpu upgrade is also cheaper by about 65$...I'm leaning towards the 90% screen as I've read they're amazing

I absolutely love that I have the screen, but 7970M >>>>>>>>> 90% LCD.

The default screen is decent enough that you take the 7970M over every other possible upgrade.

Absolutely GPU upgrade! No question! Don't even look back.

Sorry! I accidentally typed GPU instead of CPU lol. I've ordered the 7970 (the wait is gonna be unbearable).

Oh, well in that case, NO. The 3720QM is not worth the extra money. Between that and the screen, take the screen.
