Well, I guess that's what we get for going with the stock card versus the intel upgrade... You know, there's just so many design choices Sager made that really leave me scratching my head. The decision to go for a wifi/bluetooth combo instead of integrated bluetooth and a Mini PCIe for wifi just seems to make more sense for a company whose livelihood is based on customization. On the other hand, I guess they had to make a decision between another mini PCIe and mSATA and went with mSATA since it was part of that next stage in the evolution of intel's flash cache idea.

On the bright side, there are several outlets to find a replacement mini pci-e card if you have too many issues.

Well, nowadays with wireless N you essentially have 1 channel, 2 channel, and 3 channel cards. With up to 150Mbit on each channel. Now of course the wifi AP needs to support these higher speeds as well. The sager default card is just a single channel 150Mbit card. I would go with one of the upgrades as they are all quite cheap and they certainly wont hurt!

Yes the advanced-N is -- if not mandatory -- worth every penny. Wouldn't buy the ultimate though.

    Hello,

I had a couple odd questions, but i'm hoping somebody can help me out. Firstly, does anyone know of a way to change the backlit keyboard color without the hotkey software? I find that it's really the only reason why I used the hotkey software and it would be pretty cool to change the color without it, or at least make it white instead of what i assume is the default blue. The more serious question is that I have been having issues playing LA Noire in DirectX11 mode, apparently because there is some kind of compatibility issue or conflict with the Nvidia Optimus technology which uses the Nvidia and Intel graphics cards in tandem. It works excellent in DX9 but when you choose DX11 the splash screen starts up then it just dies. MSinfo says it has something to do with an nvdxgiwrap.dll_unloaded which i'm guessing is some kind of nvidia graphics wrapper from what little i know. I tried every suggestion/fix I could find on the internet and none of them worked. Went so far as to format the computer and reinstall a whole bunch of drivers and software. Disabled the intel GPU, changed NVidia options, etc. I think Max Payne 3 is also having the same issue. Nvidia's forums are still shut down since i last checked them this afternoon and Rockstar apparently is still investigating it(?) Anyways, if anyone else has run into this and has some insight into either of these questions I'd really appreciate it. Thank you and btw, what an awesome machine.

I am still waiting to take the plunge. It is not newer or faster graphics / cpu I was interested in so much as getting the lowest price on this laptop. I have been waiting almost an year coz I was more inclined on the NP9270 , the big heavy daddy, but it got cancelled. Please tell me what times would be best to get this in terms of lowest prices rebates from resellers like xotic if anyone of you remember the best times from experience ( last yr and more). I also have a few questions and request answers.
    1. Did subwoofer work for the guys who were having trouble with it? I heard Onkyo was a reputable company but then I came across ppl saying that the woofer was not working.
    2. Did you guys resolve or find a work around for the keyboard ghosting issues?

I guess those were the only two problems besides the driver issues that everyone came across.
    Thanks

I can tell you that about 3 weeks ago I did a ton of research on the np9170 pricing and Xotic PC was the best price I found. Also, they are having a sale right now if you want to check them out. You aren't just buying the laptop, you are buying the customer service as well, which I found to be above par.

You know, I'm running an old clunker laptop at the moment, as i haven't gotten my p150em (I needed smaller as I'm a trucker and have little space), but I've been researching a lot about current gaming laptops, parts, games, technologies, etc. Anyway, I was reading a Tom's Hardware review comparing the 3d experiences of Nvidia's 3d Vision 2 vs. AMD's HD3D. They tested each on an impressively long list of games, and I definitely got the impression that DX11 is really not much of an improvement at all over 9, and that it can cause all sorts of issues. Apparently it adds next to nothing in the way of visual improvements.

Then a day or so a friend of mine bought Batman Arkham City from Steam during their huge summer sale and it won't load in DX11 mode (on his desktop, with a desktop AMD gpu). So while I can't say your issue doesn't have to do with Optimus for sure, I can say for sure that Optimus is not the only possible cause. My best recommendation is to use DX9. Sorry if that idea is a bummer to you, but it may end up your only option.
