Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't think Win Home comes in 64 bit, only 32 bit, which will hurt application performance.

Home Premium and Professional can be had in both 32-bit and 64-bit.

Ultimate seems to be the only one that is 64-bit only.

So... now that we see the temps of the 3610M, can anyone tell me how much lower the sandybridge dual core temps would be? I'm really considering not getting the 45W quad core and just staying with the 35W dual core...

Looking at the temperatures of this thing, I'm getting really, really worried about the 60C and 70Cs in idle. Isn't that really bad for the longevity of the laptop? I wonder if anyone will get this with an i5 and tell us the temps...

Can anyone verify how much of an impact heat has on gaming laptop's life? I hear conflicting things from different people but I suspect it's partially build-quality and partially manufacturer.

Has anyone purchased an i7-3610QM from Ebay for about $250 and dropped it in this yet? Does it overheat easily?

Probably not yet, only a couple of people have them so far. Maybe in the next week or so you will see someone that has done that.

The idle temps seem to be a function of the desire for a silent idle speed. 60c shouldn't kill the machine as I've run a OCed c2q at those temps since release and its still going strong doing crunching. Perhaps when Prema gets a hold of the BIOS/EC and starts modding it he will enable a faster ramp up of the fan to hold the temps down but with higher noise for those who don't mind.

We also have Intel's datasheet that say max temp before damage is caused is 105c and that says throttling will happen at 10c before that(95c) so unless you're planning to own for more then 5 years you should be fine.
