I can't speak for mobile, but all the desktop sandy bridge reviews have shown they run faster and produce less heat then their Nelhelm counterparts. I'm guessing they figured out the thermals for these new mobile processors as well.

Hi all - new to the forum. Just ordered the NP5160 from XoticPC with the below config as my work notebook. I have a Crucial C300 256GB that I will swap in for the stock hard drive - should be a sweet machine.

One question - this notebook has HDMI and VGA external ports. Can you use the laptop screen and both external ports simultaneously for a total of 3 monitors? If not, what are the supported combinations? Thanks.

Is it wiser to buy it now with 2nd gen SB quad core processor or wait till 20th Feb'11 for a refresh/option with dual core 2nd gen SB processor ? The earlier quads were generating more heat than their dual core counterparts and, but no idea about 2nd gen i5/i7 processors. Please suggest.

I know that dual cores will be lunched on 20th Feb but was worried about quad core Vs dual core heat.

The dual's TDP is 10W less than the quads, so you should be looking at a little less heat from the duals.

I just found out that Mythlogic has matte screens that they can sell to you OR have them install it into your 5160 for a reasonable price. Looks like we can get the best of both worlds, thanks for offering this Mythlogic, I'll be ordering one once i get tired of my glossy screen... which will probably be sooner than later

No i'm sorry, the video is soldered to the motherboard and is not upgradable.
